| Announcement at 3pm - I feel if we get it then we are able to call ourselves a Top 10 City .
I also feel the media in Hull didn't do enough to get fans to email or text support for the bid. I was in Sheffield back in mid September and you couldn't move in the City centre for posters telling you to register your support.
However I would be over the flipping moon if we get the nod and the King Comms windfall spent on the stadium will prove to be the best thing to happen to Hull since Milldane flats.

Surely England has to be awarded the world cup before Hull can claim to be a world cup venue!!

TBF the mail and humberside have been plugging loads over the last couple of months.
It's the people behind the bid who should have done more to promote it not the media.
Most people i've spoke to about it have voted ...even my mother who hates sport.

I think in Englands bid for the world cup, they need to have a clear plan on where the games are going to be played, hence the awarding of the venues early.

I get the feeling that some members of FIFA just don't want England to get it.

| I hope England do get the world cup in 2018 as a football fan, but first and foremost im a Hull FC fan and i believe if Hull was to be chosen as a venue and the KC was extended then i believe it would be too big for us to play in.
Yes its a purely selfish point of view but its on the basis i want the best for Hull FC so i wouldnt lose no sleep if Hull wasnt chosen as a venue.
I can see London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leicester, Sheffield, Newcastle, Leeds, Sunderland, Nottingham, Derby all above Hull in the pecking order anyways due to the history of football in these areas.

| In the event the KC is chosen, Just wonder where that would leave FC for a home ground in the duration of the World Cup.
Considering the Australia's bid is threaterning to cause havoc in the NRL. My guess we would have to play about 4 or 5 home games elsewhere.
Expect 1 game would be switched to the start of the season. For the rest, I would think the Keepmoat or so the club stays in the city, how about getting the Boulevard up to a resonable state for the short period. I know which I would prefer.

How long do you expect the tournament to last? Cant imagine it would impact on us too much at all as I would think a lot of the games are midweek which, with a bit of foresight, can easily be planned around. As for redeveloping the Boulevard, it aint gonna happen.

Right. This is part of the report in this weeks league express on the Aussie world cup bid.
Under conditions demanded by FIFA, all major sporting grounds would be OFF-LIMITS to other football codes for around 10 WEEKS the height of the Austrailan rugby league season.
To me,thats 6 weeks for the tournement & 4 weeks prior to get the pitchs right. And it means we cant play home games at the KC while the world cup is on. My feeling it will be the group stage games & a last 16 game at the KC, which would make out of bounds to FC for around 7-8 weeks.

| KC will have to expand to host any World Cup games. 40,000 is the minimum. This effects us as you get points on the current franchise system for been within a certain percentage of the grounds capacity, so we will drop points. Wouldnt be too fussed if the KC did or didnt get a couple of games. Selfish, but I care more about FC than a couple of group games between lesser nations which I probably wouldnt want to go to anyway.

| I have nothing against football and think it would be great for the city if we did get the nod for the world cup but i just cant see how we'd be before leeds and sheffield as the yorkshire venue. i presume there would be only one yorks city chosen to host games and our transport infrastructure and amount of hotel rooms just isn't up to scratch, we may of had a few more built recently but still onlyabout 10 "proper" ones as opposed to 20 odd in sheffield and 40 odd in leeds.
