| Quote 18th Man="18th Man"I fully expect to see a drop in crowd numbers now, I think it's a bad move charging £22 on the gate. I can see why they are telling us as home fans (so we buy the season ticket) but it will surely put away fans off visiting a ground they already thought was overpriced.'"
I don't.
The cost of running a business continues to rise, particularly in respect of paying utilities and salaries; it was inevitable that the cost of ground entry would have to go up sooner or later and this seems like as good a time as any, given that one of the main complaints about BV has been rectified, at no small cost to Mr Glover.
Maybe if more clubs did fantastic away day travel deals like we do, opposition fans could mitigate the increased cost of entry by saving on petrol?

While everthing you say makes sense and is true the 18th man is right, it will put away fans off.
A lot of fans have less money to spend and the cost of living continues to rise, it will put some off.

Let's not get carried away here Bren a roof at one end doesn't really put our ground on a par with any of the recently built ones. We still have the wonky terracing, painted brick walls for toilets, floodlights out, limited seating etc If you want to charge top dollar you have to offer top dollar facilities! You can sugar coat Belle View all you like but it's a bit of a dump, a dump we have grown to love but an old ground all the same. I appreciate it costs a lot to run a club but to get that cash you need to attract the customers, £22 entry won't do that.
It makes me think they regret selling the season tickets so cheaply and makes me worried about what they will try and charge for admission if and when we move!

| If its going to be £22 to go through the turnstiles at BV, what are other clubs going to be charging, particularly Hudds and Hull FC as they are usually most expensive ?

I don't think £22 will put us beyond most comparable clubs, such that visiting fans, whilst they may not like it, won't like it any less than they do at other grounds; in short, they'll still stump up to see their team get pasted by the mighty Trin and probably recoup the £2 by bringing a flask. I've been doing it myself for years, along with car-sharing. Likewise for casual home fans - they'll pay the £22 for the games they can make, or they'll buy some form of membership if the price increase makes it a more viable option.
As for your second paragraph - that just seems needlessly pessimistic; nothing in Spirit of 1873's short history suggests that they're likely to screw the fans at NM and given that the stadium will be let to the Trust at a peppercorn rent and the Trust's friendly disposition towards the club, I can see no reason that they'll hike up prices to an unreasonable level if/when we finally get there.

| £22 has put me off I have to say. I have never really agreed with the gate policy at Trinity when other clubs always let the smaller kids (under 4s) in for free Trinity always charged which was very frustrating.
I will still get down to Belle Vue, but I will now pich and choose the games I attend. Previously if I was at a loose end I would go down if there was a game on regardless, but at £22 to get my live rugby fix I will probably drop down the league.

Buy a season ticket? You can also get a jr pass for £20 through your local amateur club and bingo, jonh jr gets into every home and away game for about 75p, plus the vouchers for special matches, plus he can bring a friend to a game for free. It's pretty straightforward.

| Maybe if we hadn't got a 2 page thread on it the away supporters wouldn't find out till they turned up, just a thought.

| I had a quick look at Giants site to see what their price was this year. It doesn't say.....but I do like their site.
Good merchandise free delivery, free scarfs with orders....I like what they are trying to do.

Indeed - nothing like giving away fans the heads up that there's something to moan about! If the Shudds travelling support sees this thread, both of them are likely to stay at home.
