A quick google scan delivers this from the letters page of the Telegraph
Quote Dan Stains woz GodAny old new potatoes
SIR – I used to look forward to the arrival of Jersey Royal potatoes: easy to scrape, kidney shaped and with a distinctive, fine flavour. Lately, having consumed a batch from apparently genuine Jersey boxes, I found them oddly shaped, difficult to scrape, and tasting like any other new potato. Has expectation enhanced and taste diminished with age?'"

Is there a prize?

| Ooh, don't think I've had Cheshires.
My point is every year I look forward to summer, my rugby league and Jersey Royals. Unfortunately, Jersey Royals do not taste like they used to and are as disappointing as our RL team. What's going on?
Cadburys Dairy Milk doesn't taste the same either...

| They are!
Anyway, i'd much rather discuss the virtues (or lack of) of the humble potato rather than the misery of our rugby league team.
Sorry...feel free to lock this...I'm relieved to get it off my chest. Nurse, where's me medication?............

| Only good spud is mashed or chipped so discounts the small jersey potato.

| DSWG, I agree with you on the quality/taste of Jersey Royals, they were poor last year too. Get yerself down to M & S, try their Cornwall new potatoes, fantastic flavour. Or for a slightly different taste, try Sainsbury's "Taste the Difference" Anya potatoes (I didn't get to 18st 11LB for nowt, but now 17st 3LB and counting )

| Once upon a time there was a King Edward spud who had three daughters. They all went off to find a prospective husband. The first daughter comes back and says "dad, Ive found someone, he's another King Edward:. "Excellent, says the old man, I love royalty like us, well done, go marry him. The second one comes in and says "Dad, I've found someone, he's a jersey Royal" "Royal? Says the old man. "Excellent, I love keeping royalty in the family, well done, you have my blessing." The third daughter walks in and says "father, I've found someone, his name's John Motson" "John Motson?" says the old man " you cant' marry him, hes a commentator!"
Sorry, it is an off topic thread.
