| a number of super league clubs are twinning, bradford/dewsbury for example
with the under 19's comp not allowing any over age players to play where are the players in the squad going to get game time that arent getting in the super league team..
guess they could go out on loan to the championship.. but just wondering if we have any plans to twin with another..halifax? batley?

| Wouldn't have thought Fax would sink to such depths - allowing themselves to be our 2nd club! You can just imagine their fans' reactions!!
We have had a good relationship with Batley in the recent past. Certainly the way to go IMHO.

| I'm sure I read somewhere about Batley, I know they are in talks with 2 superleague clubs. One thing to bare in mind though would be the reciprocal benefit that could be gained in terms of players, what about a club outside the heartlands, where we could have first pick of their best players. Workington? Gloucestershire? or I know they are not in till 2014 but Coventry would be a good shout considering the catchment area for players, for the future.

| some interesting points...most of the clubs that have twinned seem to be staying local though not stretching out to workington, barrow, coventry!
maybe to do with the travelling involved for players who are in the position of not quite getting in the team
sheffield ive been impressed with them lately!
aslong as hull fc twin with gateshead

| Theres is one thing I was thinking of the other day with regards to the likes of Coventry and Gloucestershire, how would they attract players to the area? Basically any dual reg or new players could study in effect and move to their respective unit/colleges/fe establishments, splitting time between study and playing semi pro. I wouldn't be surprised if the All Golds even start to offer scholarships.
I believe this may be the route for the all Golds to go down, saves finding jobs (but this could be done with anyone, but more difficult). It would though, benefit dual reg players who fall into the age bracket for uni/college study. I know we have Hudds Uni but no good if you can't get a game or have to go out on dual reg somewhere.
Local would be the best option I know but at the mo only Batley is an option in that direction I think. Something worth thinking about, plus you are in an untapped RL market of kick and clap players.
Anyone any ideas who we are looking at in terms of link up?

As a Giants fan who also supports South Wales Scorpions when I can I'd say the scheme has been a nightmare in my opinion as they must have used well over a dozen Wigan players last season but very few played more than 1 or 2 games and half the time it seemed Wane and Harris had more control on who played than Dave Clarke. Also had the "interesting" situation of Tom Spencer playing for Wigan on Good Friday, SWS on the Monday and Leigh on the following Thursday which does not really sit well with me.
From a Giants point of view I can see benefits and if we have a settled 18 or 20 man nucleus of a squad it could work well with players not in contention basically going to wherever and it being seen as a long term thing so they can settle in and be part of the other club if it is just giving player a game now and then do not think it really benefits anyone be it either club or the player but with the new rules its is going to be messy and could well turn alot of people off the lower level game if not handled correctly.
I would much prefer a situation as in football where players go on set loan periods but can be recalled due to injury or suspensions as it at least gives some stabiblity and everyone knows where they stand.

| We got to the point of sending a few lads to Batley a year over the past few seasons, didnt Jerry go for a bit?
Interesting to see Alex Brown has signed for Hull KR, will be interesting to see how he goes for them, always thought he looked a decent prospect for us, decent bit of pace plus hes an absolute unit! Probably make or break for him next year isnt he about 24/25?
