when will Super League take action to reduce the number of meaningless games like this that are turning the fans off the sport, tonight's game means nothing in the context of trophies it was just like a pre-season friendly where the most important thing was not to get players injured ahead of the playoffs.

While i am of the opinion that the league is of almost no glory, and i have also said that alot of league games are nothing more than meaningless friendlies (widnes, wakefield, salford etc)... tonight was different.
for a start, the games against saints, wigan and to a lesser extant leeds are always games you want to see us win... couple that with saints winning the league leaders shield if they avoided defeat... AND it being a few games from the playoffs, meaning we can find some form, meant tonight was a proper game.
unless you're a saints fan of course.... |

Simon Grix might argue the players getting injured point? He was unlucky or committed to a cause, take your pick.I wouldn't go into work and risk what they do for a 'meaningless' game.

Why not do away with meaningless fixtures thus....
At the start of the season put all the SL teams names in a hat & draw them out for league positions ,come the 3rd week in September the top 8 teams can go straight to the play offs with injury free teams. The bottom four or six wouldn't need to play all season.
I know it sounds a great idea but i would miss my six months fix of rugby.

I don't know whether you watched us on Thursday or Leeds and Wigan on Friday but I certainly haven't seen anyone holding back! |
