Moving onto the Stand Off position. We've not had that many but we've certainly had some really good ones.

For me, Henry Paul was the best Stand Off to don the Red, Amber and Black.

ive gone for Mr Pryce in 2nd cos he had/has the guile to play at 6 but unfortunatley wasn't picked there many times, altho when he was he was very good.

The peerless Henry, followed closely by the mercurial Robbie. A privilege to have seen both their careers, and true gentlemen to boot.

Henry was the best player in SL at the time. Robbie was a scrum half.

On some days, yes, but on others, he was a stand off. You might reasonably have thought that he [iought[/ito have always played scrum half, but he didn't. He was a fullback too.

It might have been a close thing with Iestyn Harris if he hadn't been basically past his best by the time we got him here.

Yes to me he was what I compare the standard of a stand off to -

pass both ways tick

has a good range and variety with passing tick

can organise tick

has a reasonable all round kicking game tick

has some pace and enjoys taking the line on tick

good foot work tick



No one player is going to live up to all of these by Henry's level but i believe that these are some of the key qualities a 6 should have to be considered good at super league standard.
