My guess is it might have something to do with the fact that NRL clubs have voted to increase the Salary Cap massively so that they now compete financially with RU. Coupled together with the current exchange rate means that playing in Superleague isn't as attractive as it once was.
Plus there is likely to be two more teams added to NRL over the next couple of years meaning he'll probably be in greater demand down under by the end of next season.
This should see the number of Aussies coming over to Superleague reduced aswell as more English players playing over there. I read a report somewhere that players' agents are now over there pushing English players' names around and that NRL clubs are scouting over here. Players that would once have stayed over here coining it in will now be looking to go over to NRL. Ellis and Burgess both took pay cuts to live the lifestyle out there, now they won't have to (in real terms). It could mean that the most beneficial change for the England team actually comes from overseas. Although initially the standard of Superleague is likely to drop.
