| If Danny gets so wound up in a meaningless pre-season friendly then how will his temperament hold out in the real games of 2016. Clearly demonstrated that he is not a leader of the team. Need to find an alternative skipper urgently.

| Unfortunately I agree with you on this. In the NZ game he gave away a penalty for dissent, he looked to be screaming at the ref. In a super league game last year we conceded a try where Danny should have been defending but he was too busy screening at the ref for something in the previous play. His half back play also deteriorates when he is Captain. If we need a stop gap Captain it should probably be Abbo in my eyes

| Ablett would be a good choice, I think Cuthno could be a good leader although he hasn't been with us too long he is very experienced prop but I would go with Ablett for his consistency and his experience.

| Maguire; Burrows; Zac etc.....you do have to despair if even the team's own supoorters get the team individuals names wrong.

| So people don't think McGuire should be captain because he can be petulant, mouthy, give away penalties and have a moan at the ref.....but then suggest Carl Ablett who does all the same things.
If we were to go in a different direction than McGuire (and with Ward not available for some time) then I'd go Cuthbertson. Only been here a year I know but has made a big impact at the club already and not just on the pitch.

| Reckon I'll stick with the preference of those most likely to know best, tempting as it is to press the panic button after a loss to wakey in a friendly some 7-odd weeks before the real stuff starts.

| Whoever does become our Captain next season has effectively two pairs of boots to fill. It's a hell of an ask for anybody.

I didn't see the Wakey game, I have noticed these things from him stepping up as Captain last year. My main concern is that it seems to hinder his half back play which will be vital for us next year

| But I'm sure Brian knows best. Has there actually been an official announcement from the club who will be captain? I can't remember one and I would have thought the club would have made a song and dance about?

Hetherington today:
" Danny has had an outstanding season. It is interesting how his game has matured. In the early part of his career he was an opportunist, but now he has great vision, outstanding ball handling ability, great defence and he reads the game so well. He will rise to the challenge of losing his halfback partner Kevin, and it's one he has already risen to. He has been developing this for the last few years. He will have an outstanding combination with Liam Sutcliffe. "

| My guess that McGuire is a stop gap for Hardaker, Ward or Sutcliffe to have the captaincy long term.
