When they're out of contract the club don't always have much choice. If they're determined to go, there's not much to be sensibly done about it unfortunately.

They're promising young big strong forwards. I'd not be breaking the bank just because they're academy products. If we could find another Adam Walker for similar money, that'd be a win.



Edit. Manu is 34 already and looks less than the player he was at Hull, so that doesn't strike me as a great place to be starting recruitment.

Cox and his agent have already given Saints there word that he will join Saints unless KR or any other club stump up alot of Cash. I'm now hearing that Saints do infact want Green to replace Laffranchi.

Green and Cox in, i've never seen them play but they must be good if saints want new blood rather than giving Greenwood and Thompson more game time.

They have one thing Greenwood and Thompson don't and that is 1st team experience.

Green has 15 first grade games according to the SL website, Greenwood has 17, Thompson has 8 - only Cox has a meaningful number of games (42, which puts him roughly a season ahead) but from what I've read, hes the one with the most question marks! Personally I think Richards at Saints has the biggest potential out of the lot of them, but thats another matter for another day.



Regardless of how they compare to the saints youngsters, id rather hkr got the benefit of their blooding their own youngsters. Players transfer every year, so Cox would be one thing, but both would be a blow ... We could send you back Beaumont as comp if you like

I think we will pass on your part ex offer. Green is a must keep, Cox I could live with. Maybe he has a place at uni like Jon Wilkin had when he left us

Despite playing less super league games, Green looks to be further on in his development as a regular first team player. However he is a couple of years older than Cox which many forget. Its taken Green a few seasons to get to this point, it would be a massive kick in the balls to lose him as we are just beginning to reap the rewards of bringing him through. The kind of player we should build our pack round for years to come, all the attributes for it and a good offload which is something we dont have an abundance of IMO, Walker aside. Regarding Cox, he is a good squad player for us but hasnt really kicked on and nailed down a regular first team place, our recruitment pre season with lots of forwards hasnt helped his case. However, I think he will become a very good starting super league player although it may be next season, you can never tell how quickly players will develop. One thing I would query is whether he will end up being a prop rather than a second rower as he is currently, due to his size predominantly. Time will tell, however I would really want to keep him too because tbh its just plain annoying to lose someone brought through the academy as soon as they have a good season in the first team. Especially when some people would use it as a stick to beat us with the 'HKA dont have any homegrown players' tag line that gets banded about.

If it does come down to cold hard cash, it is their job after all, I feel we as a club need to look at what we're paying for the likes of Costigan compared to our home grown products, and what value for money they offer, I know who I'd want to retain.

Don't see it as an either or.



You need 5 good props still room for locals such as Thompson. You are only an injury or an NRL approach

away from losing Warmlsey Amor or Mose.



Greenwood is a second row and is a season or so away. Same goes for Sia and Wilkin regarding replacements.



If anything it is good succession planning as long as you keep Greenwood and Thompson and greg richards

and move on the nearly men like Foster and Clough.



I would prefer Cox and/or Green to another LasFranky or Perry anyday.



Watched the KR Cas game again. Green looks good. Cox is an enigma.
