Geography means we'll exchange players with Hull more often than most clubs, but worrying about feeding them specifically is an overly narrow view.

The point is, will we be a 'buying' or 'selling' club, to use admittedly outdated language?

Basically it depends on whether our crowds/income rise, to the point at least that we can be confident of matching the ambition (sporting and financial) of the best talent we produce. Or we get benefactors with even deeper pockets, which is unlikely.

You will develop more youngsters for the next few years than most clubs if you are not going to max out, the youngsters have more opportunities with your team imo and tbh you appear to be doing a good job with it, the problem is once you have blooded and established them teams will always come in with offers and promises which will turn young heads, money to be made for you though.

Actually I do kind of agree with you, we probably will see more kids come through over the next few years as our finances dictate what we do, hopefully our b.o.d will be savvy enough to get them on long term deals, so when you vultures do come sniffing we can fight you off.

Problems B is contracts are worthless as has been proved this year. Like I say though you are beginning to produce some decent youngsters and until you are on par with the Wigans/ Wire/Saints & Leeds you will struggle to keep them.
