If I'd been told before the season that after 16 games we'd be a point ahead of Hudds and three ahead of Leeds, I'd have been delighted. I don't think it'd have even occurred to me that those clubs might be 5, 6 and 8 points behind 8th, respectively.
Widnes's comeback win today all but consigns the bottom 3 to the middle 8s - which'll be 'interesting'.

I usually have a never say die optimism but after this weekends results I have to concede that we are now in the middle 8's. We've been very poor in every department except the excuses department all season.

Yes. Little doubt that the Widnes comeback victory today extinguished any lingering hope of us reaching the Top 8s.
I reckon Salford could still overhaul Widnes, however. Out of those 2, I would fancy our chances better against Widnes anyway. We are looking at finishing in 11th place at best imo.
A season to forget really and one that could still end in relegation if we keep getting struck down with injuries, despite our perceived superiority over said Championship opposition.

You had lingering hopes...why? If you end up in the 1M game, you could be in trouble. Can see more Championship teams winning in the relegation 8's this year and of the sides towards the bottom of SL, HKR are undoubtedly the one to be shot at.

I'm not as pessimistic watching the summer bash I didn't see anything to be afraid of Leigh looked ok Bradford clueless near the line the rest were so slow I know we got beat by Oldham but I don't read much into that I think Huddersfield will still get in the 8 in place of Widnes and I have a feeling salford will take Wakefields place

You might be right about wakey. They've been hanging on for weeks on the back of a wave of confidence, winning tight games. It will be interesting to see how they go after a heavy defeat on friday. |
