| Quote SirStan="SirStan"Well if it's entirely hypothetical:
Out:
Cockayne
Sio
Dixon
Shaw
Salter
Minns
Thornley
Marsh
Kelly
Campese
Allgood
Lunt
Tilse
Walker
Green
Mulhearn
Greenwood
Horne
Larroyer
Boudebza
Donaldson
Clarkson
In:
Greg Inglis
Jonathan Thurston
Rachel Riley
Dom Jolly
Frank Sidebottom
Ted Bundy
Joseph Fritzl
Len Ganly
Bob Todd
Rob Darcy
The Plague.
Obviously, with such a dramatic change in personnel mid season we may need a while to bed them all in and it could take a few games before we decide on the best position for Riley (insert smutty comment here).'"
I can see your thinking Stan but again a little unbalanced.
I'd move Riley to accounts. Fritzl to youth development/family liaison. Todd to contracts, Bundy to manage the cheerleaders. Sidebottom to pre match entertainment.
The plague goes on a free transfer to the KC. This plague will initially terrify them and they'll initially believe it to be the end of mankind. After two rounds they'll realise it's something more akin to the common cold.
Given current strategy at the club I'd line up Gandhi and Larry Grayson for the second row. We need the knight from The Holy Grail at half back and any scrote on an ASBO at full back

| Quote Grimsby Red="Grimsby Red"Nobody can seriously want to get rid of Kelly, on his day he is class but he can't do it by himself, so please give him a break.
Salter isn't brilliant but he doesn't let us down, hardly ever gives away a penalty and he's solid in defense.
Dixon needs better one to one coaching for when he is running the ball in to defenders and for his tackle technique.
Tilse and Allgood are both average for overseas 'stars' and should be replaced.
Marsh is young and learning the game, so get off his back.
Horne and Cockayne are over the hill and should be replaced.
One of our biggest problems is the lack of hard running second rowers, so let me mention three possibilities: Mariano, Cox and Ollett ( we have let these go when we should have kept them, so think again about Marsh and Salter)
A prop that we should have pushed the boat out to keep is Scott Taylor.
Campese will need to make up his own mind about retirement, Lunt was definitely a mistake to make up for letting Josh Hodgson go when we could have improved him.
Our problems come from having novice coaches who can't/don't improve the young players we bring through. We also offer short term contracts to our homegrown talent and then let those contracts run down before offering new deals, just like what we have done to James Green.'"
Surely in the case of Marsh and Salter, their perceived and actual lack of attacking capability lets them down, especially the former. We need more than just decent defenders in these core positions, especially given our current team inability to mount creative attacking threats, pose questions of our opposition in attack and generate sustained attacking pressure.
With no Kelly and no Campese in the team, there are likely to be very few Rovers supporters who will say - "that's OK, Matty Marsh will step up and create our chances, kick the opposition into next week, manage us across the park and lead the team by example." Maybe Matty's Mum and Dad.
Salts is just bang average or below.

I was maybe being flippant with my last post but Craig Hall can't get in a team in front of Miller who is probably the worst half back to ever play in SL. He was average to poor for us before and has gone backwards at Wakey

Any Professional Sportsperson who comes back from pre season visibly overweight as Kelly simply cannot perform at their peak if they're not in peak condition; people need to accept they will get slated by the fans as its us that are paying for all the burgers he is clearly eating.
Dixon isn't good enough.
Cockayne as above.
Lunt injury prone but on a long term contract
Campese injury prone
Tilse playing better than last season but still bang average.
Horne is having a mare of a season so far.
Our 2nd row is shocking in attack and defence, Blair is getting on, but was signed as a centre/6 anyway, iv'e mentioned Horne, Larroyer had 1 good season on loan then has been average.
Realistically we cannot replace the full squad, but need to replace key positions....definitely 1,6,7,11 & 12
Time for people to let go of sentiment and to embrace reality.

No it's not, it's just stating the bleeding obvious. We all know we are turd, it's how to sort it that's the debate. Posts that involve " get rid of" followed by a massive list of (contracted) players are devoid of sense and show an ignorance of sporting contractual reality.

| Despite the on-field drift over the last few years and the horribly rapid regression of recent months, there's still something to build on - assuming we can dodge the drop. I don't want to have another massive turnover of players, even if it was feasible.
Sprinkle some healthy quality and a bit of physicality in amongst some of the solid players. Have an orthodox preseason. Hypothetically tearing it all up offers a brief catharsis, but mainly I think we need to be more hard nosed and rational.

I'd like to think the club know this and have a plan. the point of these forums is for fans to debate ideas and (where necessary) vent.
Nothing what is said on here will make an iota of difference to the club, wether thats team selection, recruitment, choice of new coach or boardroom issues. but people like to discuss these things, it's human nature.
We are poo and it is stating the obvious. There are questions that need answers before anything can be fixed.
We all know Rovers don't have the cash to pay off inadequate/injured players who are on long term contracts and so we will be stuck with some players who are simply not good enough.
1. Who is out of contract at the end of the season?
2. Do the club wish to retain the services of players coming off contract?
3. Can each player coming off contract be replaced with someone of better quality?
IIRC i think Sio, Kelly & Blair are in the final season of their contracts, thats 3 quota spaces and i would imagine a sizeable chunk of cap.
I think Tilse has another year, Charlie is on a rolling contract which will automatically be extended if he reaches a certain amount of games (15?).
Campese signed an extension last year as did Lunt.

Massively disagree with you here, Stan.
Something is wrong with our team, our players, our club, our culture, our vision, our on-field strategy at the moment.
Despite some inane posts, some that state the obvious and some hypothetical reasoning, there is always an underlying mix of well intentioned subjective and objective realism and rational debate from our esteemed collective.
We need to make some difficult contractual decisions as a club in the coming months. I would hope the club may get some wind of the majority sentiments expressed on here and react accordingly. If not, the downward spiral won't end anytime soon. Hope springs eternal.

Blair has an option of a 3rd year which he is taken up and which I'm pleased about
