I doubt it does tbh. Not solely. It looks like Saints are trying to kick on and get back to winning trophies. Your chances of international caps and/or a shot at the NRL are significantly boosted, if things go well. And if they don't so much, you've still got 'St Helens' on your CV, so another SL gig is pretty much a gimme. Though I fear Richard Beaumont will test that thesis severely.

We compete in SL, but without (even) more backing it is very hard to make that seemingly small step to realistically compete for SL. As a club, at least - for individual players it can be easier and more than tempting, I'm sure.



It'll be interesting to see how fans and the club react if this did happen. The international game is divided in to games we don't win or that nobody really cares about. The stick, such as it was, of licensing has gone. You don't get much/any transfer fee. Unless you really, really get off on being patted on the head like Cas, then sadly all the incentives would seem to be to do the bare minimum if you're outside the current top few clubs.

Surely the club would of learnt from taylor and Beaumont and should be looking to build the team around players like Cox and green along with the walker brothers and Josh Hodgson and hopefully pick up afew along the way like caro and tie these lads into contracts like they have with josh

Talking to some friends yesterday who both knows Coxy very well, they said that that he had told them that knows nothing about the supposed interest from St Helens.

So, someone's either been Economical with the truth or the agent is making mischief, the latter wouldn't surprise me.

To be fair he is hardly likely to say yes I've been tapped up by a major super league club in advance of the anti tampering date !!!

Nothing on the website, but I follow Doc on twitter and have seen they have signed up a few hull and rovers top academy players, this is their only first team player signed from the area.
