I can understand if dropping Savelio is a decision made predominantly on managing his fitness coming off his injury lay off. If any part is performance related then you wonder how some players are still in the squad particularly with our current poor SR options. Thought Smith may have given Staveley an opportunity on Friday but guess not.

Perhaps Lovodua's absence is a clue about a possible departure. With McNamara back and Trueman due in a month you have to wonder where he fits in.

Lovodua's absence isn't really unexpected as he has been pretty poor in all honesty so far. Think McNamara whilst not being a stand out does at least seem to make a difference when he's at 6. In truth Lovodua is a signing that we can ill afford to have with it being a quota spot he takes and didn't see much logic in renewing his deal especially with Houghton extending. But then this is why the squad is in such a mess as the recruitment and retention has been mismanaged since Motu left the role.

Either madness or a genius move, I fear the former.
