| Quote Kosh="Kosh"Seems to have inherited Hall's scapegoat mantle judging by the way Agar subbed him off.'"
Said the same thing at the game. Subbing him off basically gave the impression he was to blame for the defeat (when does a winger ever get subbed normally?) when in reality our FB was just as culpable for the 2 trys in the corner. It was a nervous debut but all of this out of his depth rubbish is total bollox. He dealt with the physicality ok but our defensive structure out wide is so poor our wingers are constantly exposed.

We don't have another Hall do we?
It was not Lyne's fault but he should never have played, he's not ready.

Quite. I thought he looked OK for a young débutante in a team who were going backwards for much of the game. Just as many problems on the other side of the field but these get overlooked for some reason.

| Quote freddykruger="freddykruger"i thought reece did ok, he wasnt helped by the experienced players who didnt turn up tonight , he will have learned alot more tonight and will be better for the experience. 2 years time he will be a regular in the side. out of his depth ? no its a learning curve and briscoe was also left exposed tonight.
'"
Briscoe is always left exposed cos IMO is not a winger but Agar knows best, and no Lyne should not have played tonight at the expense of an experienced SL player, if Agar wants to give kids a test then it should be done in friendly games, not when 2 vital league points are at stake. Lyne was not to blame for the debacle tonight and may be a regular in the future but this is now, i hope his confidence doesn't take a battering after being exposed to that, clearly he was out of his depth physically and positionally but not his fault as he is not ready yet for this level.

He made a couple of errors on debut which isn't all that surprising but I don't think it's proof he isn't ready.

Defensively he was awful, he made a mistake almost every time he was called on to defend and missed his wingman everytime, he had the odd lazy arm on the winger but was not stopping him until Whiting or another player made the tackle for him. He did well with ball in hand and made some good runs.
It's not his fault, he is 17 and a great prospect but I said he shoudl not be played in the first team yet and I was right. Hall is a far better defender (which he should be) and that is saying something.

I was trying to say that Hall was made to look bad because of the players not doing their jobs around him, same with Lyne tonight, left exposed.

| i thought apart from 2 mistakes he did well.
.17 years old
.playing his first ever SL game (infront of the cameras)
.playing against a winger with freakish strength for his size.who also maybe wanted to prove a point to hull that they should have signed him.
like i said 2 big mistakes but he showed enough to me that he'll be a good player in 1-2 years. hope he doesnt start doubting himself after being thrown in the deep end.

Do they?
I have ready plenty of comments this season about Briscoe's frailities from high kicks and his poor positional play. He made mistakes again tonight but he did very well with ball in hand for us and made some really good yards, hard yards off our own line.
Lets not try and make out that Lyne is some kind of scapegoat cos not one person on here as blamed him for tonight. Also in fairness to Agar, he did need subbing as he looked like he was not struggling with the pressure as the game wore on.

I'm obviously going to have to watch the game again on sky as I really didn't think he was anywhere near as bad as you are saying here.
