It was almost certainly in their contracts that they would be released for international duty. Fonua was also called up but the club agreed that he would stay here.
Players who are in consideration for international call up nearly always have a clause in their contacts to allow them to play. The choice is not signing current internationals or accept that you'll lose them for a few games maximum. I know which I prefer. |
