Quote Diogenes="Diogenes"The club did everything possible to keep him and I don't think they can be criticised for the way they handled the situation.
The reality is that Tom had decided to move on and I don't think he can be criticised for that.
He has given us some great memories and should go with our good wishes - wherever he ends up.'"
I agree that the club did everything possible to keep Tom, but he has decided his future lies elsewhere. What no one knows is his reasons for leaving. If the reason is purely monetory, then fine, that is the way of the world.
If, however, his reason for leaving is due to him being ambitious and wanting to be part of a title challenging side and he no longer believes those ambitions can be realised in a black & white shirt, then that has wider implications for FC.
As I questioned earlier, how long before Lineham / Shaul / Crooks feel the only way to realise their ambitions is by leaving for greener pastures? If we end up with a steady stream of promising players who continually leave due to the fact that the club can't match their ambitions, then we'll be stuck in an unbroken circle of underachieving mid table nothingness.
