Me too. Horne appears to have gone, although he was never an organiser, and Washy isn't a half. He was likened by someone on here to a young Sinfield but he isn't that good. Sinfield has always taken responsibility and been an authority for Leeds, Washy has had enough games to show he cant do that.



Good halves are cheeky and nippy and can play off the cuff as well as to a structure. They can order players around and annoy the opposition. Everything Longy is in fact, and everything all our other 'halves' are not. A young scrum half with some over confidence, feist and drive is what we need at the club urgently.

Agree totally. There is no way one man should upset the plays to so much extent, no matter how good a player they are.

I just don't think something like that can be taught. You either have it or you don't. The funny thing is it doesn't really have much to do with technical ability (although that helps). It's just having the mind to completely dictate the game and then the personality and authority to control your players into doing it. Long oozes this as do all other top drawer half backs.

Longy will be lucky to play 50% of your games. The last 3yrs at saints he hardly played but always came back for the finals.



I'm not bagging him or hull as he's a saints great but that's what you will get with sean long at this stage.

Long has played 20-odd games a season for a Saints team with 30-odd fixtures every year since 2003. If he's available for 2/3rds of our games I'll be happy. Horne's injury record is well known. It should be no revelation to anyone that for much of the season we will need another half-back, or someone to cover Berrigan if he moves to H/B.

I have been disappointed with Washbrook over the last few years - he's never lived up to the potential I thought he had in 2006. His best chance to make it could be trying to learn how to play 9.
