I agree, but as Radford said afterwards, Yeaman looks in better spirits than under Gentle.

It was quite a candid comment, something like "He didn't get on with the previous coach".

Discipline was terrible, i thought. Not helped by Thaler being whistle happy, but we did let ourselves down.
Radders might have to start issuing fines for penalties

Agreed. Thaler was trying to blow the pea out of his whistle for the most of the match. He must like been on the telly.

| If this game had been round ten and not round one, there would have been far fewer penalties. Referees do this every season, come out with a directive to clamp down on some thing. It will calm down.

| To be fair to Thaler he did call the Captains over and said both teams are messing about with ball in the tackle and stop or he will blow for it, to which the very next tackle Cats did it and he awarded a pen.
Watching it again I blame Hull lack of discipline than Thaler, if we play with the ref we will win more games than lose.
Biggest plus for me was the 4 props who got us out of our half quite easily, they all stood up and had great games.

| Was it just my early season optimism but do our play the balls seem far quicker? Haven't seen us attack with the same urgency like that in a long time either.
Yes discipline in defence and a reliable kicker needs addressing but to me we look stronger and faster this year across the team. And we could be more entertaining to watch. 10k crowd considering the weather and a sky game was more than I was expecting too. Tuson and Watts, Green to throw into the mix. Biggs too. I think we will go ok this year even if we do end up losing next two. Least wire and saints away will be games out of the way early

I disagree there I thought thaler was poor and gave pens where there were none and missed others.

| Pluses:
Looked threatening whenever we had the ball
Some good passing and backing up
Pace to burn
Performances of the new boys
Cons:
Appalling discipline
No right sided defence
Inability to defend attacking kicks
Goal kicking
Kick offs going into touch
Kicking penalties to touch and not making many yards

Your final point really is a pet hate of mine too ,so easy to make another 20 metres wasted every time.

Is it really down to discipline?
I know I'm biased, but many penalties were given for no obvious reason.
It almost seems, at times, that referees now decide when not to give a penalty at the tackle, rather than the other way round.
We suffered badly in the first half - did anyone hear Radford say he knew the ref would even it up in the second half?

Agree with you there, we pushed our luck at nearly every tackle.

| A Big Plus is that we have still got Mcdonnell, Biggs, Crookes, Arundle, Miller, Tuson, Green, Pitts and Watts (Plus youngsters) to push their way into the team.
Wouldnt be too surprised to see a departure or two?!
