Smailes has just tweeted that Mark has been forced to retire with immediate effect. Shame that the Wembley showing was his last.



Thanks to Mark for his efforts this season. One of the few constant performers in an otherwise average season!

What a shame to have to go like that. He's been great for us and it's disappointing that he won't get to give us a final showing on Friday, whatever happens at the game.

Been great for us - came from NRL at an age when he still had much to offer and certainly gave his all for Hull. Glad he has played for Hull FC best wishes to him.

Gave his all, think this season has been his best, looked fitter than he had the previous 3 years. Hope some of our younger props have taken on board his no nonsense approach to playing - run hard, hit hard
