Look at the bottom 7 after 5 matches , very revealing I think
Hull KR
Wakefield
Crusaders
Castleford
Catalans
Quins
Salford
Is SL getting closer and closer each year ??? even at this stage I think not.
Is the league too big with not enough talent ?
The recession must be playing a massive part now - Salford and Quins wage bill must be about £500,000 lower than ours. Huddersfield being bank rolled by Davy at full salary cap helps.
When will we see a Rovers v Tigers GF? that will be the real test of a salary cap

If you take a less blinkered view you'll see that there are only 2 points between 1st and 9th therefore i think you'll find the league is indeed getting closer.

I'd say (and this applies to the OP as well) that Round 5 is way too early to be making any assessment of the strength, closeness, or any other feature of the league TBH. |

What record needs changing, sorry to point it out but there are only 2 points between 1st and 9th.
I just find the arrogance of some people a bit astonishing, where does the devine right come from that their is a hierarchy of teams that will be the only ones to challenge for honours come from. Hudds are one of the best teams in this league yet because they don't fit the mould they are being bankrolled. Yet so are Wigan, Wire, Saints etc.. no mention of them..
As Kosh said a lot can change in the league and good gauge of where teams are comes after round 13 when all teams have been played each other once.

If Rovers beat Wakey (which they should) and we lose to Wigan (which is likely) then we will be level with the on points. There are only 2 points dividing a lot of teams so I would say the cap is working.

The crux of my post is that surely it is not just coincidence that the newest and least funded clubs already occupy the bottom 7 after 5 rounds , I find the argument that it is early days a bit too easy to put forward.
If the table was upside down then would everybody just be thinking it was too early to say ?
