| Quote PopTart="PopTart"Dave@Trin2013 - Although you say you don't think we can be choosey, I think we have to be exactly that. If we are to let players go that are in my opinion good players, we need to replace with good players, otherwise take the cash and invest in the youth we already have.
If Aiton has to go so be it. Cash it is.
If Cockayne goes, I'm happy with a £30k fee.
If Poore goes he is much harder to replace and we shouldn't be looking for average players to do that. I'd rather go witha weaker front row that is all potential and local than generally average players that will not help us (obviously I'm making a personal judgement on the names being talked about)'"
What I said on the duplicate KR forum and got sarcastic replies back suggesting we should be just happy getting them off the wage bill with no signing fee and 'Santa list, wish had million quid in bank and foot long dong comments but can't have what we all wish for' comments. Not worth the energy discussing it with KR forum. If the boot on other foot wonder whether they'd think it good business? Caro is rubbish and Lovegrove an average SL second row.

| Not surprised this has dragged out s are always difficult to move on.
On a serious note no loss, anyone thinking he's worth keeping just watch reruns of the magic weekend and Leeds away.
Wakefield should forget him.

Why? Has Hudgell changed his mind about continuing to pour money into the black hole of HKR?
Or was that just a poor attempt at scare-mongering to try and get his own way?

I've watched Caro come through the kids at London with Dixon and they are worlds apart. He can't naturally catch a ball. All he has is speed and thats straight line with no ball. He is useless. Poop in a poor London team

Tbf, while the straight swap thing and you taking Caro off our hands was 'optimistic', if that was what was being implied (players plus cash was my assumption), so was your suggested fee of £100k. The sarcasm was unnecessary, or overly robust perhaps.
It does seem that fans sometimes struggle to think about the other side of the deal - the boot being on t'other foot, as you put it.

We don't have immediate or pressing financial problems, is perhaps what afm means. We've got some new directors, alongside those who've been shouldering the burden to this point, and some new investment. Like most SL teams we remain a money pit. Hopefully our new north stand will mitigate that somewhat.
Genuinely - best of luck.

| wow, I never thought my one off-the-cuff statement would've had so much clout! Feathers all over!
two points to consider, true or false
HKR were RUMOURED (key word) to be a bit low on funding...
HKR spend not too far from the wage bill?
My suggestion of "maybe they can't afford to pay a fee" fits in, as they may not be able to afford to pay Poore without unloading a couple of players. A possibility, no?
All hypothetical, but I still reckon it does/would hold water whether you financial directors on here say otherwise or not

| Quote Wildmoose="Wildmoose"Just a scenario here...What if Rovers want Poore but not quite on his current salary? He won't want to take a pay cut & Wakefield won't be prepared to subsidise the move but if the shortfall is broadly similar to any transfer fee I'm sure a deal could be done. You'd effectively be letting him go for free but getting rid of his wages. Possibility?'"
Eureka!
There is some right old crap on this thread but this guy has it in one!
If we offload an expensive player and save a fortune but pass the liability of his wages on to someobe else then you can't also ask them for a fee as well!
I too do not rate Omar and would prefer us to retain our own, but this maybe a condition of any proposed deal. We are NOT in a strong position to negotiate!

Doesn't seem to be stopping us trying according the the Hull daily mail today...
[iThe club are still working hard to bring former player Ben Cockayne back to east Hull, and he is known to have agreed terms on a three-year deal. But the sticking point is believed to surround the size of fee Wakefield want to secure his services.[/i

| HKR agreed a fee with WTW 2 months ago, the stumbling block has always and still is due to HKR not yet agreeing personal terms with BC, his own twitter account clearly says HKR are dragging their heels the article in the paper is inaccurate

Perhaps they were a little hasty with the £30k offer and realised that it may be slightly over the odds for an enthusiastic but limited player. On the other hand I expect HKR to pay Trinity to take Caro off their hands.
