| Nope. Not for me.
There is no doubt he is a good player but he is on his way down.
When we got Grix and Finn we bought good players at the end of their careers with great attitude and leadership who would bring a young team on. They did exactly that. Broughy is not that kind of player.
In addition, what about all the talk of giving Hampshire a shot? His goal kicking is better than Brough now. His speed certainly is and might be faster than when Brough was at his best too. It's certainly close. He has Finn in the backroom being a mentor and coach.
If Brough already has a poor attitude, what's he going to be like when he isn't first choice every time? I'd rather sign Reynolds which is rumoured or even Mellor for good competition without egos.

| As if anyone wouldn't have Brough on a 1 year deal. Still a quality player and a kicking game is something we have lacked immensely this season. I'd love him back at Belle Vue for a season. We've got the culture at the club for him to thrive in.

| Quote wrencat1873="wrencat1873"No question that he was better 5 years ago than he is now but, he would bring an excellent kicking game and some experience on closing games out, just as he has at Shudds.
On the downside, discipline and fitting into the tight knit group at BV.
Brough needs to be top dog and running the game and is prone to chuck the teddy out of the cot when he doesn't get his way.
I'd still put him a long way in front of Finn, who was our starting 7, last season and this (until Hampshire got the gig).'"
Exactly this. Would be like a better Finn imo.

This exactly, other issues aside it makes me laugh how some were happy to run with Finn this season (as was I by the way) yet would stay away from Broughy who's is 1. Not fast but still a lot quicker than Finn 2. Has one of the best kicking games in the league and 3. Is on par if not better at organising a team.

Yet that is exactly what most posters have put, they wouldnt, yet as ever you totally ignore them claiming yours is the only opinion that matters. You’re entitled to it but you’re not entitled to claim you speak for all.

The only persons opinion who matters when it comes to making signings has the opposite one to you on the player in question.

| Forget the question marks over his waning ability and concentrate on his woeful discipline and that he generally acts like a complete tool and that should be enough to put anyone off. We rely on a happy camper to get the best out of the team and Brough doesn’t fit the ethos of being a team man

That's it for me, it isn't that he couldn't do a job for us for a year but it's attitude that worries me. Also, he'll be 36 in January, I personally just don't see the point of bringing him back and potentially rocking the boat where team spirit is a big part of our success the past 2 years. I would much rather sign a young half like Reynolds who would probably be on less and doesn't come with the baggage and also has youth on his side. Also, would he be happy to play second fiddle to Hampshire, surely we didn't desperately try to keep him here, to bring a player like Brough in.

Of course he wouldn’t be happy to play second fiddle to Hampshire, that’s not his style. He’ll expect to be number 1 choice. Which wouldn’t exactly enamour Rocky.

| Some are justifying taking Brough, by suggesting he's worth a one year deal, to help us to the next level. Possibly correct.
However, with the 8s gone and fears of relegation not really a realistic worry for us (I know, I know), wouldn't it be the perfect season to be investing in youth?
Batchelor, Crowther, Jowitt, Ben Reynolds(?) could all see some enough action to really get them to the next level in 12 months time.
Time to invest/trust in youth?
