Out if interest, it matters not if Owen had a foot in touch before the penalty to Cas. In RL, penalties are given for foul play (high tackle on Owen) even if the ball is dead. In this instance, the foul play over-ruled the tehnicality of Owen going into touch, so therefore a correct decision was a penalty to Castleford.

Had the touch judge been quick enough with the flag then there would have been no need for Semi to make the next tackle.

That’s my take on it. Owen stumbles as Tadulala is executing a tackle. Had Owen stayed on his feet the tackle would’ve been around the chest/waist.

Tadulala was well and truly committed to the tackle as Owen's foot went into touch, the TJ raising his flag would have made no difference.

On the topic of the tackle being a penalty there was clearly contact with the head. Technically, it doesn't matter whether Owen was 'ducking' or not, contact with the head is a penalty. It's like saying you can't give a penalty for a high tackle on Rob Burrow because he is only four-feet tall.

It was technically and clearly the correct decision.

Surly it’s relative to the ball carrier? If a player cops one around the head as he’s up right then this is foul play, if he cops one at chest/waist height as he stumbles into a tackle this is an accident, no foul play to penalise.
