An excellent hard working performance last night.



I thought we played some good football in the first half and created a number of chances. Defending was good a Neil Bennett was never really tested.

An excellent goal from Darren Thornton, direct from a free kick then David Boardman scored after a mistake by a Goole defender.



Not sure whether the Goole free kick was a foul or not but he ihit it well.



Second half Goole took the game to us and we seemed to sit back and absorb it. When we got the ball down we looked good and created chances. Although Goole had the majority of possesion and territory they never really created any real chances and other than bog standard goal keeping Neil Bennett was never really tested.



A good solid tream performance but my MoM would go to Josh Grant.

Burscough edged past Wakefield in a scrappy game at Victoria Park.



Burscough went ahead in the 19th minute when Darren Brookfield chipped a pass on the edge of the box for Liam Caddick to chest down and fire in to the back of the net.



The Linnets doubled their lead on half time when Caddick found himself clear on goal and dinked a chip over Bennett.



The visitors replied on 57th minutes when Jassim Alali lobbed Horn the referee overruled the assistant’s offside flag to award the goal.



Burscough restored their two goal lead five minutes later when Louis Mayers stabbed home from close range.



Dave Pickering thundered home a long range consolation for Wakefield but it wasn’t enough and Burscough progressed into the next round.

Wakefield fc got their second win of the season away at 8th place Lancaster City, with the goal coming from .

Missed City chances and a late strike from Shequille Clarke saw Wakefield leave Giant Axe with all three points.





An 87th minute goal from Shequille Clarke was enough for Wakefield to earn their second win of the season. City missed chances in either half to break the deadlock but a battling Wakefield held on to snatch three points at the end of the game.
