| Good first half from the boys but this second half the young lads have been generally very good in defense but a few too many mistakes when we have the ball & Batley have scored off the back of them, making the most of coming down the hill.

| That’s a very young squad with 5 having had just one year in the Academy and 5 Just stepped up from Scholarship, including Aydin, Schofield and Kamano who are all 17 year old Front rowers.

Yeah, these lads will have got a hell of a lot from this game and CC will be very proud with how they've played against a generally much older bigger experienced Batley side.

| Did anyone go today?
The comments on FB are quite positive.
Just wondered if anyone could add any detail about how the young guns played.
Especially Max at 6.

All played well against a physical Batley side, with no help from a poor ref. A good mature 80 minutes performance from all the young kids, proud of them all

| That's massive understatement about the Ref BLM, he was horrific, 2 tackles in the 2nd half that could have ended in serious injury went totally unpunished, how long did we go in the game before we got a penalty despite the high/late tackles being committed by Batley. Shoulder charges a plenty and a half time penalty counts something like 7-2 in favour of Batley, then in the last 5 mins the ref gives us around 6 pens in 6 sets like we don't know what he's doing to even up the count.
All,in all though I thought that young team did very well against what is likely to be close to Batleys starting team, Max went well at SO and his try was an absolute pearled, he spotted the gap from way out and was shouting for the ball to get to him. I think there's an awful lot to be happy with at the moment with our academies and the the possible future they offer Wakefield Trinity

| Young squad, who were always going to struggle in second half uphill against pretty much a first choice Batley squad. Stand out defensive performance from crowther who gave 110 percent, batchelor looked strong also, thought 28 on wing did very well under a lot of pressure. Difficult for jowitt behind a pack that were generally outplayed but if he is going to try and make a go of it in halves needs to take the line on, thought he looked very Jamie rooneyesque at times. All in all pretty good performance and given the temperature kept my beer icy throughout the match.

| Out of the backs I thought Kershaw did well on the wing with some good defensive reads. Luke Hooley went okay but wasn't tested too much - haven't seen him much in attack yet. Max did okay at no.6 and I thought Ackroyd looked lively and has the heart of a lion for his size. I cringed watching him tackle Rettie going at full pelt but the lad didn't shirk it.
Hard to tell with the forwards as they were much less developed physically and they found it hard to make metres due to that. I didn't begrudge them it in today's game. Their desire was good and defence was generally strong in general play - naturally Batley were always going to get some crash over scores due to them being a lot bigger physically. Aydin looked a cut above the rest of the forwards I though and he looked the nearest ready in a physical way. Batch went okay too. Thought Crowther was quite quiet.
The young lad at hooker - Hiddleston? He looks a cracking little player. Thought he was a problem around dummy half with some good, quick distribution and some clever little scoots. Made a cracking line break with a nice dummy and a bit of pace.
