For me this is a big nail in the coffin for the club.
We had a great opportunity to turn things around, and he hasn't been given chance to do this.
Ever since MC took over, he has been like the grim reaper to the club. First of all, he was part of the negotiations of giving the lazy, idle Kirmo a 4 year extended deal. Look at him now, dont think there is hardly anyone wants him in the squad
I think things at the club were starting to be turned around, 3 of the gutless players were coming toward the end of their contracts

Not great news what ever the reasoning, I would imagine that Smith will have sorted out for Travis Burns to come but board would not pay. There isn`t a coach in the land who could get our squad to win a game in SL. We need someone who can prepare and plan for the middle 8`s. A very tough job, would Neil Kelly do a job ?

If it is true, big shame as we were not far off and this was never a quick fix, at least a 4-5 yr project, but who knows what goes on when the lights are off and doors are closed.

Chester may be from Wakefield but, he got blobbed by KR and their spend is way above ours.
Who in their right mind would want the gig.
We have a squad that is way behind the rest of SL and no cash to improve things.

You really think this is more expensive than the 2004 squad ?
If we are anywhere near the cap, how much are other clubs spending. Warrington, Saints, Wigan, Salford, Huddersfield, Hull FC, Catalan, Castleford and Catalan are certainly spending way, way more than we are. Even Widnes & KR have more star quality  |

From what I hear I can't blame Brian Smith. No doubt there will be several others coming forward to do the job.
Whoever gets the gig will struggle with the squad we have and the resources they have to work with.
So I would like to wish our eventual new coach good luck because he will need it.
