Me and mate had bit a debate other night I said when the cats bar was first built it was opened all week every might but it wasnt owned by the club owned by Mansfield brewery

If they got the pumps and beer right, it could be operational 7 nights a week, with regular pub style entertainment such as quiz and race nights. They could also do like music themed nights such as 60s, 70s and 80s.



I recall someone saying that for a sports stadium to operate and make a profit it has to be able to make money 365 days a year.

The stadium situation is holding the whole future of club back

It's a bit far out of town for most people to incorporate it into a night out. The club could have a coffee shop and a pub operating in the town centre near all the other real ale type pubs though which would get used. Offer season ticket holders a 10% discount on all purchases and sell some merchandise too! I'd certainly choose a Trinity Coffee shop over going into Costa

Yep, coffee shops are the big thing now.

Peoples drinking habits have changed Eastern, how many pubs surrounding the ground are no longer there?

Apart from match day, opening throughout the week wouldn't make economic sense.

Maybe this is why quite a few home games are not on Sunday?

The corporate and bar would probably make more on a Friday.

Friday night games mean I'll be drinking, Sunday afternoon games means I'll be with my boy so we'll have food an warm drinks. The money over the tills is probably the same from me either way

It's good that either way it doesn't affect yourself.

How many in the corporate will have that extra one or three on a Friday because they won't be working on Saturday?

If people aren't buying season tickets, MC has to find other ways of maximising income.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all, I'm happy with Friday night games and I'm sure that many people will drink more on a Friday night than they would on a Sunday afternoon which is good for the club (so long as the beer is a decent(ish) quality)

Just agreeing with you regarding coffee shops.

Pubs are closing everywhere but not just near the ground. Ones near the ground like Forresters and Graziers hasnt been there for years.



I think there is more to it than cultures changing.



People arent going to the pub as frequently I think because of some if the priced that are charged in some. I love it in Elephant and Castle but at over £3 a pint. You then go in a Weatherspoons and can have a pint of beer for considerably less.



I mentioned before about the ground and accessibility between the North Stand and Cats bar. There is actually a building behind the north stand near the toilets that I dont think is used for much, it is small, but if the ground was to get a re vamp could this be turned into a small bar.

Over £3 for a pint in The Elephant compared to considerably less in Wetherspoons, is probably down to what you want to got to the pub to do?

If you want to go and get leathered watching 'freeview' in Wetherspoons, that's fine but if you want to watch the match on Sky at The Elephant, the Sky subscription is obscene in pubs, so that's why the beer is more expensive.
