Who do some people expect is to sign? Sam Tomkins? Greg Inglis? Half of you would find something to moan about if we signed 1 of those.

wakefield fans and realists dont exactly go hand in hand,for us to sign someone young, british and proven is a mark of where we are now to where we have been in the not too distant past, if we can add some real grunt and nastiness up front then we will definately be heading in the right direction,

If a player like Smith comes available dont say Wakefield would not be interested? 2007-2008-2009 you would not have been allowed a sniff at this player.There are only so many Players of SL pedigree and Smith is one of them,you have him for 2013,judge him at the end of that season

Completely agree, British & young ( forgot how young he still is at 25), could very well turn out to be a very good signing.

Lets not get away from the facts before he went to the other code most clubs would have jumped at the chance of him.Hes still only 25 so has plenty of years left and came on a months loan and now has put pen to paper on a permanent deal so must have impressed behind the scenes.

Even if at half the form he has shown at the Rhinos he would still stroll into the starting line up before Mellars, who has been one of the most disappointing players this season. Maybe we should use Mellars on the wing and try Cockayne somewhere else, fullback ?

Completely agree mellers has been useless in defence and smith is quality IMO

Good signing for you guys. Young, british and as someone else stated - comes with a good pedigree and background. Would have liked him at Cas Tigers. Could see Mellars leaving though.

Lee Smith a niggly player who can milk a few penalties just what we want IMHO like others have said a couple of years ago regardless of his form we would have had no chance of signing a player like this unless he was 35!



Hes been out of the running at Leeds and probably unsettled coming to the end of his contract if we have offered him a 1 year deal to see how he goes then thats good business, if he doesnt produce the goods then bye but if he gets into form again then we will no doubt have to pay the going rate.



Shrewd business this signing I think. This is clearly stengthening the team and adding competition to the squad I am sure everyone would want that.
