| Quote Wakefieldite="Wakefieldite"Well for those of you who have Sky, Boots N All tonight have launched a spin-off show somewhat (un)imaginatively called Boots N All The Tries. Once you blot out Terry O'Connor and Bill Arthur, just tries, tries and tries.
Anyone who's seen it tonight, thoughts?'"
I just think it is so sad for the game that this is the best we can expect from Sky Sports. The opportunities for an equivalent to MOTD for Rugby League are significant but we get two, uninspiring characters behind a desk stating the bloomin obvious.
Last year Sky Sports launched a new programme to provide a round up on Super 14 (Rugby Union Southern Hemisphere 'club' competition). It was well produced, had a lively set and featured an informed but slick anchor man. It featured comprehensive highlights, light moments (gaffes etc.) and exceptional plays and key moments. That programme was good from the outset. We have been at it for years with Boots n all and it is still amateurish and quite frankly embarrassing to the game.
We seem to have a blockage somewhere between the games administrators and Sky Sports that is failing to see how bad this is!
Surely with so much focus on 'spreading the word' and 'expansion' it is not beyond the wit of the combined forces to produce a format that is of interest to a wider audience than diehard supporters who have to watch these programmes just to see their clubs highlights? Maybe then these programmes will improve.

I'd doubt Sky actually made that, more produced by SANZAR and given away free to fill a slot - like a lot of the Sky Sports schedule. Outside of Boots 'n' All, The Rugby Club and Golf Night Live (or whatever it's called), Sky make very little in the way of 'magazine' programming.
As for the SLS, the BBC's treatment is a disgrace, but not a surprise if you look at the rest of their RL output. Why do we need to hear a Radio Leeds commentary again? What a waste of time!
Yorkshire Radio has better RL coverage when on air. At least they don't leave a close game for a update from a blowout elsewhere or boring coach interviews.

I suppose the point I was trying to make was that the RFL appear to be sitting back and watching this rubbish being broadcast. I don't care who makes the programmes, but we should have some decent content. The Rugby Club is light years better than Boots n All, so there is no excuse for Sky.

I guess the sad fact is the RFL don't have the money to spend on the puff pieces the ICC and IRB can put out. Boots 'n' All could be better (ditch some of the silly Angela Powers bits, have more analysis with Cullrn or whoever), but as long as Garry Schofield stays off TV, we have something to be thankful for.

| When you watch MOTD or the American or even Aussie sports highlight shows (especially the NFL or the Footy show) and you compare them to either the Super League Show or Boots n All, you realise how unimaginative and plain our programming is.
It isn't really hard to have a lively, modern and vibrant studio with a knowledgable, enthusiastic and upto date anchor with segments which will catch the eye of the audience.
As Rubberman said, the show could easily include;
Highlights of the rounds game
Coaches corner (Analysis of key moments/Plays etc)
Gaffe's (e.g. 2 Good 2 Bad from Match of the day)
Light hearted interviews with coaches/players/fans
Tries of the month
I'm sure if they combined the best bits from MOTD, Soccer AM, The Footy Show & Bits from the NFL they'd have an outstanding show

I don't think it necessarily is though Schunter. Looking at some facts;
Money is available to make weekly RL programmes on both BBC and Sky
Someone is arranging the preparation of decent quality recording of every SL games
Clubs would not appear to have a problem with making contributions to the existing show
I would therefore suggest the availability of raw materials is not an issue when it comes to the production of the shows. What is the problem is the motivation of the production staff (which may be financially constrained), the quality of the talent and crucially the fact that we, the viewers, whilst moaning continually about it - do nothing about it.

The production of the Super League Show is not done by the BBC but is put out to tender - and usually the lowest bid wins. Last time, start of last season I believe, the BBC applauded the efforts of the production team after a rise in viewing figures - and promptly sacked them, choosing a cheaper bid.

| Have to say that Boot n All was awful tonight, I saw what was on and watched the poor Catalan display show and turned it off. I don't think they mentioned us playing well it was rather that Catalan were poor.
Oh and Eddie, your getting like a broken record with this leeds/world club challenge game... I am expecting the same if we beat them on Sunday, one eye on a pointless little game to proven our sides are better than a team from down under thats still on holiday... muppets.
