for those that don't remember, we played australia and put a good physical show up; we refused to be bullied physically. the aussies took exception and it got violent, very violent with neither set backing down. it got into a bit of a tough guy contest, which suited us as we could scrap but not live with the world's best side if they played football. think it was 18-36 which was the closest club game of the tour. seem to remember we got mentioned favourably in rothmans that year.
harry gration interviewed fulton after the game and asked him why they had played like that, fulton said that he'd told his players not to take a backwards step (which was fair enough), but by implication he expected trinity to back off which we didn't. it got under his skin a bit, as did harry who far from being a trinity fan just said what he'd witnessed.
