Wigan do have a link with Wigan college as i know of and prob with Winstanley and John Rigby. I remember when filming at Wigan Brian Foley pulling a scholarship player at the time (played in the first team since) and giving them a rollocking for not going college and saying it was part of the code of conduct that youngsters either learn a trade or go college.
We have signed players from all over the country and other clubs have signed players from Wigan. As has been said it is not always about money. Wigan have one of the best scholarships schemes in the country and we tend to get the pick of players. We have lost out on one but we will produce more.
