I think Phelps is a great lad. Wears his heart on his sleeve and has a lot of passion for the side, which is great to see. A very likeable player. However, I try not to let that blind me when passing comments about him.
Madge picks teams based on who is fit and performing. Phelps at the moment has failed both. That's why he isn't in the side.

Tbf i don't think he's as good as some would suggest but I also don't think he's as bad as others would like us to believe as well.
I’m happy with him in the squad as I like the cover he offers but I’d rather see Pryce playing week in week out. That being said I’d still take him over Kev Brown any day of the week quota or not.

| I hope Amos plays
But if he isn't 100% fit there's no need to rush him into the team when we have Pat, Golding and Pryce playing well.

I hope they kick everything to Amos if he plays, it will be suicide. He wont be in the squad if he wasnt 100%, we have been holding him back for this imo.

| As regards to Phelps.
I was in London at my son's watching Wigan play Leeds on Tv last season.
He asked, "What's this Phelps like?"
I replied, "Well, he can't catch and he can't tackle but he tries hard."
No sooner had the words come out of my mouth, Leeds put up a high bomb which he duly dropped. In the next six tackles a Leeds player ran through him to score.
I remember it so clearly.

He is a good squad player. He can do a good job at fullback, but everywhere else he is poor. He counts on a decreasing quota and with the amount of competition for places in the backs we have I don't see a need for him.

Too late by then I would be suprised if they did kick to Amos to start off, last thing they want is him getting back in his stride quickly and giving him the ball will let him do that imo. It does give them something to think about though which is all good.

| Madge is not the type to risk players. We've seen how careful he has been this season.
I think Amos is fit and ready. Providing nothing goes wrong during the week I believe he will play. No insider-knowledge, but I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if he played. A massive boost to the side. He is such an awesome talent. The most dangerous player in Super League with ball in hand before he got injured. An open space shown and he will capitalise.
Madge also says in the interview that Harrison Hansen isn't too far away. That would be another massive boost. HH works like a trojan in defence, but was also getting better going forward. He has bulked up a bit I believe.
We have players coming back at the right time. A massive headache for Madge when they are all fit.

I agree with your earlier post about him. People like him because he tries hard, he's very brave in the tackle and seems 100% committed to the club.
When he hit some form at the end of last year, his defensive positioning had improved and he was coming into the attacking line very well at the other end of the park. Afraid he hasn't recaptured that form this year and competition for places (even with injuries) means he might struggle to get another chance.
