I don't want this to become another which is best GF or CC thread, but until you win the league you will never be regarded as a great team. Fact is for all of our CC wins we more often than not won the league as well.

was 9 at Manly so not too young and remember it well, sorry when I menat the WCC I meant the top competition not the silly top team play off one where even Salford were in.

I'll bet you Wigan's crowds in Division 2 weren't too far off those of Saints & Leeds. Remember that was a depressing time for crowds in general within rugby league. The Hull clubs were doing Ok but most others were struggling. We averaged 4500 that season. Be interested to see what Saints averaged that year (80/81)

funny that i remember a silly top team playoff this year with crusaders in it that most wigan fans were pleased they won! it's funny how you can change things to suit isn't it?

we'll never be truly able to measure what warringtons crowds would have been in the 2nd division having never been there, however in 81 we won 2 trophies so i imagine we had reasonable crowds as well, i was there at the time but didn't do a head count tbh! to busy having fun!

we also finished top of the league but no one minded as the name was changed from champions to league leaders. Cant have it both ways.

Don't know the average for 80/81, but the attendances for the derby's during that period were were.
