Agreed, IL doesnt need to buy "world star" names to keep me happy, but I still think we need to look outside the club when there is an opportunity to improve. Shenton would be one such player. |

I am Darrell Gouldings biggest fan!
I got really annoyed when i read about someone saying we should sign Shenton. Why would we sign yet another centre when we already have a fantastic home grown one. He has scored 11 tries this season and hasn't played in every game so that says something about how good he is. He doesn't deserved to be dropped when everyone else is fully fit because he is the one that is playing for his place.
His contract is up at the end of this season and i believe that he has played his heart out to deserve another contract. He plays his heart out week in week out and i feel that he doesn't get rewarded for his efforts.

An interesting point of view. I don't think he is ever going to be our first choice winger (I think he lacks the pace for that ) with a fully fit squad and so I think he must make a go of it eventually as a centre if he wants to be a first team regular.
As to this season so far from him I don't think you can ask for more in that he has IMO clearly bought into the MM philosophy and is playing as that philosophy demands. I am sure MM will like that but that in itself is IMO no guarantee of continued selection. That said he is fortunate both our 1st choice centres are no spring chickens so if he sticks around and learns to pass as ShortArse mentions above he may well have a future there.

He is one player that will put 110 per cent in every week and you cant fault that. I think we are finally seeing the real Darrell Goulding after he was chucked into the first team at 17/18 was it and given the number 3 shirt and even played at stand off in his earlier days.
Hopefully he will regain that number 3 shirt when Gleese moves on or retires and turn into a great centre at this great club.
