Would love a pairing of Edwards and Wane but can't see it. Can't even see Edwards EVER coming back to RL.

I'd love for Shaun Edwards to come back but as assistant to Shaun Wane.



I'm trying not to get too carried away as the article is from The Sun newspaper and offers no direct quotes despite the fact it is written in a way which suggests it's the whole truth and nothing but the truth.



It seems a bit funny that a few weeks ago the same newspaper reported that Shaun Edwards had signed a new 2 year deal in Union. The article including quotes from the man himself too.



Surely not? But we live in hope!

Can't see him swapping first team coach to assistant coach. Doesn't make sense. Must be on a good screw in union with the welsh assistant job too. If he does come back it's got be as head coach!

It does say as first team coach, not head coach.



Maybe just maybe we will have a double act of wane and edwards next year, supported by deacon and rads, with bitcon and hampo looking after the fitness and conditioning side of things

I'd be pretty annoyed if he came back as head coach unless Wane has said he didn't want it yet(which I just can't see). If he's coming back to work as an assistant to Shaun Wane then that's great news but if not it's a strange one for me regardless of him being a club legend as he's not coached in League before.



Saying all that it's nosey Parker so it's more then likely rubbish anyway.

why couldnt wane just stay as a number 2? who knows wane might not be good enough to be a number 1 and i dont know how anyone who only watches wigan play could even know if he was or was not good enough to be head coach. Even last year when mcguire was away and wane took over everyone was raving on about wane saying what a great job he did etc but iwas told by a very reliable source that mcguire was watching live streams and on the phone all through the game still making the decisions. Now im not saying wane isnt good enough to be head coach but the truth is i really dont know! i just dont understand why being a number 2 for 2 years automatically means that hes earned it? would mike phelan get the job for man united once ferguson retires? in comparison hes seems to be doing a very good job too but i just dont think we could turn down the chance to have edwards as our number 1. wane could and will still have a big input as a number 2! thats my opinion anyways!

Edwards himself said in the Wigan observer that if he ever came back he'd expect it to be as a number 2.

I have heard formal talks had occurred a few months ago, after that the trail went cold, seems to be warming up again now.



I would expect Edwards when he returns (I say when as it is only a matter of time in my opinion) will come in as a hands on coach possible in a director of rugby role but not as first team head coach.



He and I do not think any fans realistically expect him to walk back in and be a head coach, when to be fair he has not paid his dues in our code. I think assistant coach/defensive coach though would be not necessarily be befitting of his profile as a sportsman.



One thing that excites me that if he were to return I expect to see the levels of intensity increase on the pitch, which was my major concern about losing Madge.

This would seem to be a sensible way forward.



I think Shaun Edwards has become too wiley a 'politician' to think he could just walk in and take over, as a result of which Shaun Wane would probably leave the club he has loved and served for so long.



Eddy would know this would alienate some of the fans, and might even cause disruption within the team. These are things that would definitely concern him.

All goes back to Edwards not wanting to unsettle his kids and nothin has changed in that respect.....so for it Wont happen for 5/6 years...if ever!
