| Gutters - would you think this season has been worth spending money on marketing?
Maybe all the available money was spent on the team and look where that has got us!
Would be good if we could get another couple of wins to build on for next season. Chances are that we are going to have the majority of the current squad for next year (though if I was CG, I might be having second thoughts).

| I have to say that up until half time I felt like I was attending the funeral service of the Broncos. Of course the second half was magnificent, but let's not allow this to make us think that everything's OK. I see nothing from the club that will secure the future beyond this license period. We've wasted a year now; what post DH structure do we have?
However, I do think we get a bit myopic in our criticism of the game unfolding before our eyes! We did the Legends Lounge for the Catalans game, and Rascal Thingy Stork was on our table with three guys from work. As I'm sure you remember we were dire that night - Dragons scored seemingly at will and they bombed some beauties as well. I was my usual grumpy self -I HATE losing - but the three newbies thought the whole thing was great!
However poor we are, and however inferior Super League is to the NRL (a lot by the way) it is still by a country mile the best spectator sport in the UK. Go out and find them; keep doing it; and you'll generate the same momentum we found against Salford last week.
Remember Maranta - five years and we'll be playing our home games at Wembley (and this time next year we'll be millionaires)!

| Well said, nkpom.
I honestly don't think any regular Broncos punters will be basking in any false sense of security....we are all aware of the problems, I'm sure.
That second half against Salford doesn't mean we have turned any corners...we are merely approaching the corner!

Me too, their successful building of a lead balloon this week seems somehow apt!
Seriously 98% of the London public have never even seen a live RL game, so yes the gates are pathetic but the last 6 seasons would have tested the patience of any RL loving crowd. There is still a great opportunity to build RL in the capital but whether we have the vision who knows.

2. Budget? Don't make me laugh. DH ploughs 1.5 mill into the club and not even 5% of that is spent on marketing.
3. I agree 100% about getting this season over and done with...but a win at the weekend and maybe 1 more against HKA would make it better

No need to feel guilty about that.
The Tories may not have detoxified the brand but Portaloo has successfully re-invented himself I'd say.
Maybe we should appoint him CEO.

November 1st 2011......we announce the Broncos are back.
4 days later we get a mention at the Wembley Double Header.
December.....announced new shirts won't be ready for xmas.
27th January v Skolars....first chance to see the new look team in London......still no shirts available for purchase......
February 4th, first game back as the London Broncos in Superleague.....sub 5,000 gate.
26th Feb, 2nd game at home as the Broncos .v2...sub 2,000 gate.
No matter what anyone says, by the time we arrived at March, we should have had 2 x 6k gates at home.....nobody knew or expected us to be crap.....the club....YET AGAIN....
[size=200JUST EXPECTED PEOPLE TO TURN UP....[/size
I hope you're right about no money being available for marketing DSWG, because if they spent a brass farthing on any of the above "activity", then I really do despair for this club under its current stewardship!

| Gutters obviously. Yr thoughts on marketing better than finance I would not target you as STH if you came to 10 home games paying £15 a time that's 50% more income from you than if you paid 99 for ST
You can market as much as you want, if you keep losing and losing badly people will not come
I was going to ask if many folk were seen leaving at half time last week

Right...I'll type this slowly this time so the point isn't missed.
I accept that we now know (in fact, we knew by mid March) that we were crap this year........but what I do not accept is the poor crowds in games 1 and 2 at home.....
for the record, Gus blamed the bad weather for the St Helens crowd.....it was book-ended either side by 14k gates for the Union lot......there was no excuse given for the Huddlesfield (sic) crowd.
The first game back as London Broncos RL should have been a massive event........and by massive, I mean by London RL standards....7 or maybe 8,000 fans in attendance......it got less than 5k...this was the first competative match back as London Broncos.....where were those confused fans who couldn't figure out what game we played....where were the lapsed anti-union brigade......where was anyone new?
The rebrand was nothing more than a smoke screen that gave the CEO a chance to show what he could do and the club a chance to start again.......both opportunities were spurned.
The only positive to come out of 2012 that can be carried into to 2013 is that it really can't get much worse.......or at least I hope it can't.
