| Quote Dave Lister="Dave Lister"Quote Dave Lister="rosetintedspecs"Sitting on the fence asking the question - whats so bad about him losing the job he is not capable of doing? this happens on a daily occurance in real life. People are losing their jobs all the time and most through no fault of their own. As I have said I have no axe to grind with RP he may be the best bloke out, he may be a great family man but he is a useless coach and that is what he is being paid to do. That is the job he is not capable of and that is the job where he is failing in grand fashion.'"
Exactly.'"
The difference is that he has been put in a very public position where all his credibilty and future earnings potential as a coach have been destroyed by being put in a position he should never have been placed in.
No other club would have been stupid enough to have Powell in anything more than an Assistant's Role. The man has been at the club for sometime and I'm sure that whatever selfdoubt he had was taken over by an understandable wish to help.

Ultimately you are responsible for your own destiny. He had opportunities to resign with at least some of his credibility intact.

Calling the man spineless is unacceptable.
We've all critcised his inability to coach but most have tempered this with the fact that he was placed in a role he should never have been offered.
Your post lays the blame at the wrong door.
The art of management is employing the best people for the job and sadly no one in their right mind would have put Powell there.

Perhaps he should have. But in the worst recession in living memory I can understand why he didn't.

Why? I actually just looked up a few definitions of the word and judging on his words and actions this season, it describes him perfectly.
as has been posted, nobody held a gun to his head when taking the job and he could have walked away ages ago. Instead, he continues humiliating us all.

Because he has pride? because he felt some sense of responsibility for killing our club? I will give the bloke some credit, I think the recession has absolutely nothing to do with his decision to keep going. Laughable.
What do we do when his contract runs out, hold a bucket collection at our final game to keep him fed? However do you think the millions of job seekers feel and cope?

| It is of course quite possible that he has tendered his resignation and had it refused.

Or it's still lying on a desk somewhere...unopened, due to the lack of back office staff

| Quote Snoopy="Snoopy"If the RFL want to help start an amateur club up in the South RP is the ideal man for it. He has the qualifications and experience to do just about everything. Its just a shame there is no vacancy and he has been put in the coach's job at the Broncos instead which for one reason or another is beyond his capabilities.'"
Complete agreement with this. Also with Simon M's comments. Surprised by Listys turn of phrase of late - very harshly put. We all know what you mean and have nearly 2 years worth of evidence, but still a little abrasive.

| Holy !!! My 100th post!!! And there was me waiting and trying to think of something amusing/witty/ clever/useful/helpful/ statistical/purposeful/loadsa other things etc, but I never could and now I've wasted it by trying to appear reasonable... Think I'll apply for a job as coach.

| Be interesting to see a poll of how many on this list with a mortgage, a family and no job to go to have actually woken up one morning and thought they should resign but maye they are not up to what they are doing
None is the likely answer unless they are someone who has financially not got to work. So to expect Powell to do so is ridiculous and hypocritical
There are of course those on here who are arguing he should do that and of course would say that they would do the same but I suspect they either
1. Don't have mortgages
2. Don't have a family
3. Don't have a job
4. Are students who frankly know f**k all about the real world (my sone is one so I can speak with knowledge)
5. Are living of mummy and daddy's money
6. Are just liars
To call Powell spineless is IMO out of order
