| Anyone know the best way to train it over to Gillingham from central(ish) London? Victoria, Charing X, St Pancras? Can you use an Oystercard to get out there?

| Quote daftdad="daftdad"That is about the same as mine to each home game. Get yourself down to the Gills. Local team sold out their adult allocation and requested more!'"
Well said!
Plenty of us having been making the trip around the M25 to West London / Twickenham from Kent and Essex for years! Come on, all of you - this could be that rare thing, a Broncos game that has been well publicised and that COULD get a decent crowd and possibly a decent atmosphere! Remember them eh? Crowds? So just get yourselves there! Its only one game FFS, you'll be back at the Twickenham library, sorry Stoop in a couple of weeks! Jeez!

I was contemplating driving, but as one of the boys has bailed we'll now get the train as my local train service arrives into KingsX. I thought the easiest route was to get the 44 minute direct train from St Pancras to Gillingham so not crossing London on the tube. The direct trains are 11:25->12:06 or 12:28->13:12. The other trains from StP involve a change and take around an hour & 20 minutes. It seems that the return to StP is every 30 minutes. Surprisingly it'll be quicker for me to get to Gillingham using this route that it takes me to get to The Stoop from where I live!

| Torbreck that certainly is the easiest option taking the High Speed from St. Pancras. Just recheck the times on Saturday as there is engineering works again on my line affecting the up trains into London in as much as the departure times from Sittingbourne to Gillingham have changed from the usual ones on a Sunday going up into London. For anybody driving car parking is hell in Gillingham, best bet is the station car park. You can't park around the ground or really near it as it is all resident only parking permit and you are likely to get your car either clamped or towed away. I have met one of the wheelchair players for Medway Dragons and for sheer enthusiam and get up and go I think the club are great - well done to them if they have really pulled out the stops to publicise this game. I am bringing my best friends to the game so I hope the team really make an effort.

Excellent. St Panc looks like the way forward then. Sounds like the most direct journey. Southeastern Trains. Ta for that.

| Sorry giving duff information about the trains. We seem to have had engineering works every weekend but I think this coming Sunday is ok. Every Challenge Cup day we go to have a drink at the Allsops Arms at Marylebone and every year there are quite a few Hull fans sitting outside who wear black tops with gold lettering, can't think of the club name (obviously a local club from Hull). Anybody from Hull recognise themselves and coming down for the match. They always chat to me every year.

I've just rechecked on thetrainline.com and the rail planner app on my phone (the app picked the chaos on the Waterloo->Twickenham line for the Hudds match a week before) and it looks like the 11:25->12:06 and 12:28->13:12 are still running. I'll re-check on Sunday morning though & fingers crossed it'll still be OK.

| You're telling me - my annual rail season ticket went up by a lot to subsidise the high speed trains. We all think it is a conspiracy theory to force people to use them to commute to London. Very good service if you want to go to London at weekend but for daily work commute puts time on my journey. Has anybody you are travelling with got a railcard to get a discount?

| Quote Marilyn="Marilyn"Has anybody you are travelling with got a railcard to get a discount?'" Yes, an Adult Super Off-Peak Day Return is £13.55 with a networkrail card which is valid on the HS1 trains.
Interesting pricing though. My station to KingsX = £6.60 and then StPancras to Gillingham = £13.55 which comes to £20.15. But my station to Gillingham = £21.90 so cheaper to buy the 2 separate returns than 1 direct ticket! Stupid how they work out the fares.

I've often found that separate train tickets can work out a lot cheaper than direct ones! Dunno which genius thought up the system but that seems to be the way it is!
