| As an outsider looking in I can't see anything but looking into the future in the Championship. Switching coaches at this time in the season especially when your lads have been improving (a win will come soon!) is a bad idea. He was just starting to get them to play how he wanted. Also reports said Rae would have rather stayed on. Good luck rest of the season guys.

| I am really upset about losing this great man who is the heart and soul of London Rugby League.
He has been badly let down.
In the backs he has pretty much a full suite of reserve/academy players with his first choice fullback and wingers (Mataitonga, Dixon and Duckworth) never available.
At half back in the main he has again untested kids.
In the forwards he has a reasonable set of backrowers but the smallest and youngest front row in the competition.
That is down to David Hughes and Gus Mackay and the full year of faffing around.
If you look at the players who first played Super League at the Broncos or left in recent years we could have had a team like:
Dorn, Dixon, Sarginson, Sykes, Caro, Soward, T.Leuluai, McCarthy-Scarsbrook, T.Lee, Clubb, Bailey, Vea, Cook
But in 2009 and 2013 Hughes wobbled.
We should be able to give Tony a send off this weekend.

| Rooster booster ... Wise words. I chatted with tony a few times last year and it was clear that he was building a new team long before the season ended. He wasn't promising the earth but hoped to finish in a safe place for next year.
Sadly the cock up that was the post season pretty much destroyed any chance of rebuilding.
In my experience tony is/was a good man who cared passionately about the broncos and importantly he understood and cared about the supporters.
Good luck tony.

| Quote Rooster Booster="Rooster Booster"He was so pro-London it was ridiculous.
Now he has gone, just so people know and not tar him with a gus brush, he was asking about recruitment from as early as August last year. His hands were tied re money and our existence, and we missed out on some players as a result. We then were in the awkward position of having to sweep up players where we could. Don't ever think he did nothing about this when he was all along.
I also recall him in 2000 coming over here and letting me interview him which was put on the old site. He came round my flat and spent about 90 mins talking about London with a passion that was so clear.
Of all the good and bad things said about him and what he has done and did. He was always doing things with the intention to benefit us. That's what I'll thank hm for.'"
Great post!

| Tony Rea was a great club man as Rooster and others have said.
The last time I met him he was still involved in Union in Australia, but we spent ages discussing London and he knew results etc., and you could see that the situation was painful to him.
The reason this Club is that the people that own and run it don't have Tony's passion.
Thanks Tony.

| One thing Rea was very good at was selling the club, it's position in the UK RL World and what it's short history meant. I cannot measure him as a coach as I never played for him, that is for others to judge, but he certainly loved this club.

| So sorry to see him go - he has been good for this club in many ways over the years, as a player, and as a scout - finding the good kids to bring them in.
Good luck and all the best in your next venture Tony - missing you already!

| Will he get a regular commentary gig on Sky and/or BBC, like the other Aussie ex-coach Shaun McRae had for a while, or is he soon returning to Australia?

| Tony Rae is London through and through. Marvellous scout and he brought in some great new unheard of talent. Knew the players and markets and was a great ambassador for the club. His only failing is he cannot coach. However he took the reins rather than do nothing for London. A great man with a great belief in this club. I wish you everything you wish for yourself Tony

| I love it, one keyboard expert obviously has such indepth knowledge of Rea's coaching methods declaring that he 'can't coach' yet they can't even manage to take the time to spell his 3 letter surname correctly.

| Dave, its a bit like the days when everyone was saying McDermott cant coach, he seems to have managed ok at his next job.
Sad to see Tony go, but I think most Broncos supporters agree that a change was needed! TR has been a stalwart for RL in London, but it was always said that it was a temporary post, and think right from the fans forum when he arrived Joe Grima was being given the hospital pass or taking over when Tony wanted to head home.
Has the question been asked, has anyone said, was it a case of being pushed or did he just decide himself it was time to go.

Given that he said he felt he could have gone on and kept the side up, I would guess the former.

Listen to the interviews. Seems he wanted to carry on at least till towards end of season.
