I'm trying to figure out that if Gower had been playing today (I listened to the game on BBC Radio Merseyside while watching the cricket), would we have been beaten less comprehensibly. Surely we're a worse team now than last year under Powell's command. I'm just finding this season unfathomable after what promised to be a competitive one.
