| Why £25 for a Thursday night game you ask ?
Because it's 2017 not 1917 .... Super League RL costs money, no more than at the majority of SL Clubs.

£25 is a lot of Money to me and its hard to justify £50 for me and my Wife and travelling after work from Warrington on a Thursday night , which means I may miss the start of the game, but my thought is its better to have 10000+ at the game than 6000+ and I think a lower price would encourage that on a regular basis.
I know its not 1917, and no longer get to too many games, as my life's changed since I used to go regularly, but I did do 20 years every game home and away in the dark years when week in week out we wondered if the club would survive, I did sponsored walks to other grounds to help save the club etc so im not just someone who pops on here to cause problems, I just have an opinion like the rest of you.
I think All SL Clubs should look at pricing in relation to the amount they get in crowds. The Higher the crowd ,the better the atmosphere, the more likely you will sell more merchandise ,drinks etc ,which then brings more revenue into clubs.
I see every week on TV clubs that once had near 20000 crowds scraping 7000 if they are lucky and full stands empty on TV, because teams decide to keep them closed ,to save money ,which makes the game look like its on its backside ,which in reality at the moment, I think it is.
New rules and the quality of refs is making the game boring, teams full of muscle men with the same moves every game, wingers the size of prop forwards ,makes for a one dimensional game ,where its 4 runs up the middle and a kick which more times than not goes straight to the opposite full back or winger.
The games rules need to be made simpler to help the refs, and players need to be given more free reign by the coaches to do their own thing and put more flare into the game. In most teams I can almost tell you who is going to take the ball after the next tackle, as teams are so regimented ,Warrington comes to mind . That's why Castleford are top of the league as they are playing exciting off the cuff rugby like Leigh did in the lower division in the last few years and makes for a more exciting team and game and less penalties.
sorry for the long answer but that's how I see the game at the moment.
Cheers John

Excellent post John, the highlighted bit is the major problem the game is getting predictable and boring.

But cutting the price from £25 to £20 or even £15 wouldn't really add many more people to the gate though.

I agree Leythlg .....
& Jon_t, apologies, I was in a flippant mood rather than trying to be rude, much of what you say is true, however cutting the ticket prices would not IMO result in massive increases in attendance.

| It was very well documented pre season we would have Four premium matches, which would carry additional entry fees.
Its not as though we weren't told.

this is true,i like a lot of fans will/have paid the extra two quid, but at the time we played these teams,where/are they top four???.money is tight for a lot of people.its still at the end of the day two teams playing for eighty minutes.there was no price increase in the championship when we played the top teams.i know it happens elsewhere and in other sports, but i dont think its right, especially for parents with kids.up the comics.

I respect what your saying, but its more than just 80 mins Rugby these days. Pre match entertainment, events never mind extra security all come at a cost.

i know what your saying,i pesonally dont get it.pre match not really interested myself.if you go to the cinema the price is the same if the film last 90 mins or 180 mins.when skyfall came out people were queing outside for days, the price stayed the same.we have now played three prestige or whatever you call them games and none have been anywhere near a sell out,and i doubt wigan will be either.there are reasons people stay away, the club should be interested in finding out why.i would love watching my team in front of a packed lsv. up the comics.

Hi Ste hope your well, i think that the example you have given isn't the best one to pick, simply because for many years Salford have struggled to attract regular big/decent crowds. People used to say "Salford is football and not Rugby" and that was at the Willows. Now i'm led to believe no Salford fan could walk to the ground, but i do agree that the sport in the main seems to be on a decline regarding numbers attending matches. Personally i think the scheduling of the games and then re-scheduling of said games has more to do with the decline than the price.
