I'll agree with the ' fan friendly ' bit , much more has been needed for decades , however it isn't via better links with the amateur clubs , many of the coaches at them have their own agenda's and idea's on who they want to have ' links ' with



The club should work more with the schools to get more kids interested in RL , be that playing or watching

When I mean community clubs I mean the kids more than the coaches,its all about getting the kids wanting to watch Leigh and getting them to think of the players as their hero's like we did when we was kids,then I think u've more chance as these kids get older wanting to play for LEIGH but if there not good enough to play it's the next generation of fans

But that's my point , for every kid at a community club , there's 30 in a school , Also with the TV coverage being all essentially SL those kids get to see players at bigger clubs easier and they become their hero's



it's fans that are the foundation of any club , the more fans the more successes full the club



Players can come from anywhere , it's a job

How can players come from anywhere? That may have been the case three decades ago. If you want the game to survive,they have to come from somewhere.



Its called a pathway. But you need structure before walking into schools.

By ' anywhere ' , I mean Wigan , St Helen's , Warrington , Leeds , Hull , there is no need whatsoever for Leigh Centurions to produce any players



But we do need to produce fans , they most certainly aren't going to come from anywhere except Leigh

Just another thought on this one gunner , as I put in my post prior to your reply , fairly sure at many clubs that the coaches are ' courted ' by SL clubs from neighbouring towns , offering them season tickets and the like to push their kids to follow their club rather than the local lower tier club , there is no answer to this , profile is everything

This is what I'm saying regaurding community clubs,get the kids wanting to go and watch Leigh because they are playing the game so u have more of a chance in getting them to watch than some kids in schools but that doesn't mean neglecting schools I just mean its probably alot easier to get the rugby kids go first

But as I just pointed out , some coaches actually push their kids to watching the ' elite ' rather than their local team , not forgetting the situation we now have where the amateur and pro games overlap



Quite simply it's a numbers game

The more clubs adopt this attitude, the closer the championship gets to being a feeder / reserve league.



Yes, we need to attract fans. We need to do our bit to get as much of the local population interested in the sport in some capacity as possible.



But the one thing you absolutely need to play a game of rugby? Players. It's not a lack of fans that's causing concern at the moment, it's lack of players. Clubs are finding that they now need a squad of 30+ players to get through a season. Sometimes a club will get through 40+. You can't do this without developing players yourself. Even if it's taking players that are rejected by clubs between 16-19 and running a reserves, then promoting them to the first team.
