Keith,
By Plan A, Plan B, I really mean that we probably need to modify our approach to games.I love the expansive style we have been using, but in my opinion, like most things in life, you have to build a solid foundation first. The high speed, high risk style is great to watch, but has also been responsible for regularly coughing up possession in our own 25 (or whatever it is in metric terms
) I've regularly heard PR say that any team will concede tries, if the opposition has all the ball, and that's what has been happening, these past few weeks. There can be nothing more tiring than having to tackle, tackle, tackle, constantly.
The Hull KR game was, for me, the classic example of that. For the last 20 minutes of the first half, HKR hardly touched the ball, and we scored 24 points. They were out on their feet as half time approached, and rescued them. The second half was the complete opposite, when they monopolised possession, and we slowly crumbled, in the face of a virtually non-stop onslaught.
Let's make the opposition do the bulk of the tackling, and I would expect us to prosper, even more.

| With the notable exception of last year we have had a dire record in play off football since we came down from Super League. You would have thought that lessons would have been learned from that by now!

And the play-offs didn't really 'count' last year, as the prize money was awarded on league positions, Brian!

| Plan B doesn't have to be a radical change. I am not talking about PR saying "OK STOP! Let's go to Plan B now!!"
I am talking about something along the lines of what Alan is saying. The way Leigh play at the moment is all fine and dandy when the players are confident and all the moves are coming off, but when the moves fail, amd we're dishing up easy possession in our own 20, we're putting ourselves under ridiculous pressure. And any defence in RL will crack when put in that situation too often.
Put it this way, the way we've played this season has obliterated the Championship and caught out some SL sides in the cup. But when we've been up against better opponents and our expansive style hasn't come off, we've been found wanting, battered and the confidence has drained away.
WE NEED AN ALTERNATIVE for when we need to dig deep.
(And to all you muppets that criticise Plan A and B or whatever - f*ck you!
This forum is getting on my tits these days. It's like being back at school.)

| Players just need to show more composure. You can get away with slack play and dodgy offloads more easily in the championship but try it agaist SL opposition and you can get stuffed. We certainly found that out.
Playing expansive is fine once you've "earnt the right" and Leigh did in most championship games. Against better quality tesms you have to put them under pressure and throwing hail mary passes won't do that.

| We can blame plan a or not having a plan b but at the end of the day these players are full time professionals who should be able to know when its the time button down the hatches and grind a win out, does anyone really think Kevin Singfield gets told when to close a game down or kick the ball in touch to give his players a breather no he does it off his own back because its called game management and I think the players have to take the blame when we're winning with 10 points with 2 mins of the half left and they try a stupid pass instead of 5 drives and a kick

| I'm not so sure that this is about being 'found out' by super league teams, as has been suggested elsewhere. The warning signs were there several games before the end of the regular season; we weren't playing particularly well. Key players lost form and the Warrington game, in particular, was something I don't think we recovered from. I'm not sure why. The pressure was building on the club as the hype intensified. This happens in football all the time when good cup runs are followed by poor performances. When the wheel comes off, everyone panics. The lack of confidence at the recent Halifax game was felt by everyone, I'm sure.

I didn't realise only your opinion counted. Did you know that abuse is a sign of a lost argument?

| Well with beswick and barlow leaving, there are two plan b options that weren't really utilised in the qualifiers.

Where are they off? Both would be good signings for a team like Dewsbury and could help them push for top 4.

I'm not arguing. I am making a clear statement to whoever it concerns.
And that's me done now.

To be fair on what I've seen this year I'd have Beswick back.

He's been a natural leader all season, often playing 80 minutes, and constantly enthusing his team mates. He's stood in as a half back, and even prop, when the situation demanded it. Coincidentally, our play-off 'performances' also coincided with a significant decrease in the time Bob has spent on the pitch. I for one would much rather he was on our team, than playing against us!
