Someone from RFL said the other day on GMR that no one will be exempt from the drop from now on. But they have changed their minds before have'nt they.

Yep, its a good move IMO.

that's the right idea in theory, the problem being who would fund it.

Cant see the SL elite spreading their share for the sake of RL unfortunately

We need to get put gates up to 3000 in that division to compete for promotion so its up to the good folk of L,B&B to show they want a SL club

If we can't do that then we must accept RL is all but dead as the towns sport, so it will be up to all fans show their true colours aNd put up or shut up

The Watcher shouts hallelujah! At last some common sense shown by those who control thr great game but is it to late? Have all the teams below SL beome dead horses that have been flogged to death some time ago or could there be life left in a few of them? Our own team has seen support dwindle, over the years of franchising, to a very low level but we have come back from worse periods of history. Perhaps we will rise again from the smoulding remains of a once great rugby league fire that burned within this town of Leigh who knows but what is certain it has to be better than it was with no P&R.

Before everyone gets excited, read what has actually been agreed by SL clubs.

They have confirmed that SL will reduce to 12 teams in 2015 to be supported by a 12 team Championship.



They have asked the RFL Executive to investigate two options around a 12-team competition.

One option involves a 12-team Super League running in tandem with a 12-team Championship which after 23 rounds split into three qualifying play-off groups, each comprising eight clubs.

The other option is for two divisions of 12 with a more traditional style of promotion and relegation between the two competitions.



The 2015 Championship would then be made up of 2 relegated SL clubs from 2014, Toulouse (presumably a shoe in) and 9 clubs from the 2014 Championship (the top nine?). Below this i suspect that ther will be Championship 1 clubs split regional.



Competition for places in the 2015 Championship will be interesting next season

Ten years, no second tier, we'll all have gone bankrupt trying to buy promotion.



There is only one solution to this, semi pro all round.

Is it the perfect solution for us - probably not

Does it give us something to go for - most certainly yes

Are we going to give it our best shot - absolutely yes

Compared to going bankrupt due to our fan base having ' passed away ' and not replaced due to lack of interest

Clubs stiill go bust under current system.



The custodians of the clubs have responsibility to keep there club going. If they can't afford it they shouldn't spend it. That way all clubs will find their level. If they increase income then they could possibly aim higher. Really simple.

Pretty sure Cats have got less Oz players than a few other sides.

They have also stated that there is no protection for ANY club......well its on the RFL website.
