Wigan v Warrington was a very watchable game and a good advert for Rugby League, the ditherers are not going to turn up on Fridays at LSV when a much better product is on TV.

But a ditherer is a ditherer whether it's Friday night, or Sunday afternoon!!

We don't want ditherers......we want Leythers!! - and the genuine ones will turn up if they can....not if it's a toss up between watching Leigh or watching the telly!!

You are spot on walt, so how do you produce them, can you convert ' ditherers ' into hard core Leythers? , or do you have to grow your own?

Leigh match for me too, I always record the Sky game if we don't watch it live, cant see why any true Leigh fan would stay at home and watch a SL match on TV rather then attend our game.

Because they're not a true Leigh fan Lynda.

That is irrelevant johnny- starbug is right at the moment our Friday crowds will suffer when super league have a high profile game.



I was in the catholic club last night and it was packed with everybody glued to the screen.



How do we persuade these people who obviously love rugby league to go the sports village.

The true leythers are not the people we need to concentrate on.

If that's true, and i'm not agreeing or disagreeing, we just have to be a bit more savvy about when we play our Friday night games. It's not TV that's dictating when we play on a Friday. We have to avoid all Wigan/Wire/Saints derbies and I think a Leigh game would win out over anything else.

Basically,it's Swinton's home fixtures that are dictating when we play our Friday games, so we are currently limited in when we can play those games.

For ditherers read 'stayaways'.....the sort of 'fan' who will find any excuse not to go!! - and we all know quite a few of them......most of them re-appear for cup finals, etc!!



For me the future financial safety of the club is dependent on finding 'new blood'....get 'em young - before they develop allegiances for SDL clubs, or cast our net in non rugby areas (like Bolton). Persue the 'book of tickets' idea. Offer family deals, and take a punt on opening up the East stand, as a 'family friendly' area? These initiatives would require a degree of 'flexibility' from our landlords, and maybe sponsorship.....but we can't be scared of at least trying new things to boost the crowds, (like the Season Ticket thing....good idea, but needs the other Champ clubs on board to make it work, or Friday night fixtures) - 'cos I genuinely believe, if the product on the pitch is entertaining (and we have already seen evidence that the current squad are capable of providing this), and we can get the crowds to steadily build, the 'stayaways' get curious, and you can drag a few back into the fold!! It's not just about survival - it's about making the club as good as it is possible to be at any point in time. We aren't in SDL (and might never be!).....but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't strive to be the best supported and most successful club outside SDL, and send a message to them that they don't know what they are missing!!!......and that goes for the 'stayaways' as well!!
