Leigh MP and Shadow Secretary of State for Education, Andy Burnham, will be appearing live on Radio Manchester’s ‘Rugby League Extra’ programme, this coming Thursday, 25th August.



The popular programme, hosted by Jack Dearden and Trevor Hunt, is on air from 7:00p.m. to 9:00 p.m.



Andy will be discussing Leigh Centurions and the club’s links to the town.

Blimey - are Trev and Jack really that hard up for guests now!?!?!?!?!?

Such as being based in the town for their entire existance and adopting the towns name? He should find something more interesting to say about us.

Well, that's attracted some negativity! Andy Burnham spent a good deal of time at the club very recently, with our CEO and Coach. Maybe he will be discussing our situation, and how the town and club can work together?



Perhaps I worded the announcement badly - but I see this as a =#FF0000POSITIVE, guys. Our MP is interested in the Club and trying to help.

Completely agree Alan. Think he will be able to offer an impartial view of the current situation but hopefully in a positive light.

He will be advocating a supporters trust to take over the club

I wouldn't have thought we have enough supporters to do that or at least enough supporters willing to donate enough money anyway.

Maybe he has some news on where both Leigh east and Leigh centurions will be playing in the future seeing as they are both being squeezed out of there respective "homes"?

You'll have to listen in for what he says, Steve. I've no idea, other than that he is willing to give his time to go on a RL programme to talk about his (and our) club. Whatever our political allegiances, I say good on him.

At the risk of being repetitive, neither the LSV nor W***n Council is trying to 'squeeze us' out of our 'home'. They are both being highly supportive of the Centurions, especially in our current predicament. I actually posed this question, direct to a meeting of LSV management - "What do you say to the accusations that you are trying to get Leigh Centurions out of LSV?"



The answer was along the lines of - "If Leigh centurions left, we would all be out of a job - and we certainly don't want that."



I guess it's up to everyone to choose who/what they want to believe but, having met the people and worked at the club, I am confident that the Centurions/LSV relationship will be worked on and improved.

and as you say , to take the time to go on the radio to highlight the problems of the club is to be applauded
