| Quote Saddened!="Saddened!"Are you happy that Warrington are postponing games at the moment? You've got 9 players who've tested positive or been identified by track and trace. But with 9 out of the first team 25, are you really suggesting you couldn't beat Leigh? Your academy could probably run Leigh pretty close on their own. With 10 or so regular first team players you'd win comfortably and give a few lads a good run out.
Why call it off just because you can under the rules? Last season there was very little disruption and players and clubs seemed to understand the need to complete the competition. Now it seems like no one cares and just want to do as little as they can. Each game that gets called off is chipping away at the reputation of the competition and must be making Sky think twice about bothering at anything like the level they do.'"
Why does no one post on the St Helens rlfans site by the way? Pop over and give it a go, you may restart the trend?

I don’t disagree, but at least 14 players out (maybe Mulhern & Charnley too?), no reserves and an academy that has barely played? Must be difficult to pull 17 together?
We have form last season vs Hull FC and Cas that we have played in difficult circumstances, maybe these are impossible circumstances? Difficult for the club, they won’t want to say who is out for personal reasons so can’t give the full story to supporters.

| Quote morrisseyisawire="morrisseyisawire"Said it before, it seems to be unravelling and compared to last season the disruption seems much less to be part of a managed structure and much more liberal bending of rules.
Player welfare come first. But make no bones about it, the game was already in huge decline, is being made to look like a shambles and is in danger of losing sponsors fed up with last minute cancellations, no-shows and bad publicity.
Yep, player welfare comes first, but the future of the sport is a good second and if clubs can, within reasonable parameters, complete fixtures then they should have to do so.'"
Spot on. The sport is looking amateurish at best at the moment. Can people really blame NZ and Australia for not wanting to travel when clubs are postponing games because of Covid cases on a weekly basis?

| Quote Alffi_7="Alffi_7"Stupid comparison to last year. At no point has the sport played games when there were 50k cases a day and rising, last year was played through either heightened lockdown rules or lower cases circulating naturally.
9 players due to COVID, Widdop, Ashton injured, Inglis retired, Butler Robson, & Roebuck out on loan. With Williams coming in I make that 14 players missing out of the squad and I may be missing some. Warrington showed last year we were prepared to play games with many players missing. If you haven’t got the players, you haven’t got the players.'"
This.
Out of interest, does the 9 include those isolating as well as positive cases?
Saddened, you won the challenge cup 2 days ago, no ref cheated you out of it, cas didn't cheat you out of it and the disciplinary panel didn't cheat you out of it. Just enjoy it for a while and leave us be. We played the kids last season to get games on, no reason why we would now start using covid to some kind of advantage this season. Its not a masterplan to screw saints out of the grand final by the rest of the superleague and the RFL it's a real pandemic and our club clearly has some issues.
I hope the players are all ok and make full recoveries.

| It is what it is, players got Covid so let them recover. Playing under the same rules and restrictions as everyone else so not much we can do, we'll play when we play

| With players from both codes of rugby, cricket, tennis, boxers and Olympic athletes all being affected by Covid, it makes me wonder what top tier football is doing so right in terms of Covid management that it's been minimally affected ?
Is it just better cleanliness/testing regimes afforded by weathly clubs, or is there something else going on, in the high money stakes of football that seemingly allows them to be less susceptible to infection and transmission? Otherwise, what can other sports learn from their management/approach?

| All pretence has been dropped now when Saddened comes over I see? Haha. No thin veils, cloak and dagger, etc. Just comes out with it now, took him long enough.

Totally agree.
This is a comment he posted on the LEEDS forum last week, slagging Warrington off, when we postponed our Hull KR game. This was the FIRST occasion in two seasons that Wire had postponed a game owing to CoVid :-
"It's definitely happening and it is very blatant. Other clubs are doing it to manage their schedule and keep their players in ideal condition. Warrington as an example of that, could easily have played their game but chose not to.
It was good to see Michael Carter calling the clubs out for their behaviour in his rant against the disciplinary panel this week."

| I think he's just getting excuses in early for if we manage to win the grand final at Saints expense (we won't anyway). We all know the only ways that saints lose any matches is by the referee/ opposition/ disciplinary panel cheating.
Now if we win the grand final Saddened (Eamon) can suggest it's cheapened, in that we cheated saints by calling a few games off when our players contracted Covid 19 rather than risking our available players health and well being by playing matches with 14 players. He must see it that saints position in the top 4 becomes relatively stronger if we play with a depleted and not full squad and so us not playing removes that relative gain. Honestly you couldn't make it up, given our clubs history of fielding weakened sides in the past to get games on I can't see us doing this unless it was our last option.

Your post is a classic one of people just seeing my name and going on the defensive for absolutely no reason. I'm not a 'troll' at all. I don't come to boast when Saints win, I don't come to laugh at you when you don't, but no one actually reads what I post before throwing the toys out. There are only a few posters on this thread that have actively read what I've put and made a sensible comment. It wasn't a stinging criticism of Warrington, just asking whether you as fans think the club should be playing the games. I'm not suggesting Warrington have done anything wrong at all, just think there is a bigger picture the clubs are missing here.
The Saints game with Hull KR seems to be in doubt as well, we aren't selling tickets for it and we've removed the Huddersfield game next week from sale as well. That doesn't bode well. I'd much rather we played the games and lost than 'postponed' them, but we'll see what happens with that. The sport is in a right mess and clubs calling games off they could fulfill is a terrible look for sponsors, broadcasters and the floating voters alike. There will of course be times when clubs simply can't complete a fixture, but it seems to be being abused and the competition isn't being given any regard by it's clubs at the moment.

| When RL resumes with a fully operational format ,it will be interesting to see how many specs actually turn up at live games.
This enforced shut down & the reaction of fans could put the game even more at the mercy of tv companies.
