Joel is still an excellent finisher close to the line or when the ball is put in the air. Unfortunately, Joel hasn't had very good service either way this year because his centre Bridge has spent so much time injured & also field kicking has not been up to scratch. However, i don't see him as a centre due to his dodgy defence.

Leaves us with King, Laithwaite, Wilde and Philbin as backup for the pack. I'd also like to see Walker return from Workington.



In the backs we will have Ormsby, Penny, Patton, O'Brien and Johnson in the reserves. Wouldn't be surprised to see another utility back brought in if we give up on Wheeler.



Everything will look better come next February, I just hope things work out better than this year.

That's more or less how I'd like us to line up next season if we're not signing anyone else. Evans at centre and Penny on the wing though, Ben Evans for a bench spot?

Kevin Penny..



God damn it he's Championship at best. No where near the standard we should be looking at.



I've no problem with his desire and effort but he's not good enough for a side trying to get back to OT.



Chris Riley was a better winger and for me it's just another marker of our dramatic fall from grace that he's back in the squad and touted as a first choice.

I like Penny but he still makes some terrible 'reads'.

I don't think overall there's much to chose between Riley and Penny to be honest.



Lineham seems to be 'the great hope' and I've seen some really good stuff from him, but also some '%^&* ups'.



The fact that we're not clear about Joel leaves lots of questions unanswered.



The fact no-one has a clear idea of who will be at f/b, wing, in the centres, in the halves - the whole of the backs - is a real issue.

TS can't keep chopping and changing like he's done this year. It simply doesn't work in my book.

Forwards positions are a little clearer, but I still think we need a good quality prop.
