There used to be a "jazz" shop there too. It had a classy hand painted sign on the wall- "XXX vids" " entrance at rear"

There was always a dog that went mental any time you parked anywhere near it and all.

Used to go in to the King's Head to watch the Escape Committee play when they used to gig in there. Wouldn't go in there for any other reason I'm sorry to say.

I used to watch the Escape committee too, went in there a month ago out with mates on a Friday and asked what group was on, reply was not been one on for a year, so supped up and went elsewhere!

the council have had a nasty habit of " accidently" knocking down listed buildings over the years. School Brow was another.



Winwick st is an absolute eyesore, the council spent thousands and years getting rid of that texstile place, and have just left it to be a carpark. We had plans, for hotels, shopping centre, houses, cinema, yet, are left with a car-park.

Same on the old Lockers site, yup, all of the above, and now we have a carpark. Now, the council have come up with plans to develop a " waterfront"

I could gladly bet my mortgage that, that too, will become a carpark.

Thats a great post and oh so true,i have spent years looking at a artists impression in the Guardian on how Winwick street is going to look in the future,with The Shops Malls,Cinemas and penthouses!!!!!!!!!!!Why change all that when you can have a park all day for £2.40 Car-park in town..

I probably won't be the only one to admit, bulldozing that place would probably do the town a favour.
